Looking to pay around the £20 mark so nothing too fancy.

Thanks for any posts in advance

may i ask why your not considering via DVI-HDMI adapter, just they are both the same signal just a different port?

Does DVI carry sound? Don't think so ;-)

DVI does carry sound,:p or at least i know the Radeon cards from 2xxx upwards do as they have their own inbuilt audio processors and are usually packaged with a special converter to allow HDMI audio over DVI.

And i was under the impression only certain card even with a hdmi port carried sound...thus if that is what the OP needs it for better check  thus my question

Only when you use the "special" DVI to HDMI that is supplied with specific cards, so I think the above exception is not the rule.

most ati cards have built in HD sound through hdmi.
i got a 4650 and i has hdmi sound, can be bought for about £30 new

Alright alright...im afraid ive still got a 7900GT...although still seems to out perform many of the newer 'budget cards' so i havent upgraded in a while...apologies, but that was the impression i was under, and thus brought it up

And cheers to you both for educating me a bit more.

Yeah that sort of thing but hard to tell if they have native HDMI, I find a lot say they have HDMI opr even HDMI output support when they really mean HDMI via DVI dapter, which to me, is very misleading and the models vary between manufacturer so it's hard to google, I have found some with some without despite having the same product name.

I have purchased 1 already making this mistake then had to argue to get a refund.

The reason I want a native HDMI is because the adapters are huge, I currently have one and it means the PC base unit sticks out about 2-3 inches more than it has to.

My sound is via SPID/F so I can have digital output and is connected to a 5.1 surround sound so the HDMI doesn't need to carry sound but thanks for the pointer all the same.

It seems most games these days need a new GPX for every release.
