You didn't say how much RAM you're after...

Oh yeah sorry, im wanting 1gb or 2gb depending on the price. My friend recently got a 1gb upgrade for £20 for his computer but im struggling to find a 1gb for under about £40.

Ah, well you won't be wanting my 256 stick then.

I think the £20 one your friend bought will have been DDR2 whereas you need DDR, I haven't seen any 1gb sticks of DDR for less than £30.

Ah right maybe, his pc is totally different so maybe.

Im running 1gb of RAM at the moment but iv got a sh*t load of stuf on the pc and it seems to run a bit slow sometimes so was just wanting a cheap upgrade really.

Go on Ebay there is bloke (fast memory man) on there selling 2 gb kits (2 x 1gb) for £32 all in. I have used him before and its good stuff.

It's all high density RAM though, which is only compatible with around 10% of motherboards.

Be sure to check your motherboard will take high density if you buy from eBay, I bought a 1gb stick of high density RAM and found out it wouldn't work in my system.

Edit: Here's some more in depth info: http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/Myth-Low-Density-vs-High-Density-memory-modules_W0QQugidZ10000000001236187?ssPageName=BUYGD:CAT:-1:LISTINGS:1

As a matter of fact i've just got myself 1gb of this very ram. I got it from www.7dayshop.com for £11.99 per 512mb plus delivery, it was the cheapest i found and it works well in my pc.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that advice, im not quite sure how to work it out though to be honest.

Here's another useful site if your not sure what memory you need to buy...

http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=25682&ft=m&st=3

That page is for my computers information, can anyone work out from that whether i need low density memory or high density?

All motherboards take low density, a lucky few accept high density, but high density still doesn't perform as well. I'm not even sure why high density exists to be honest. You'd have to check the manual (or relevant website) for your motherboard to see if it would take high density, but there's only a 10% chance it will.

This is about as cheap as you'll get for a 1gb stick.
