If the motherboard has blown all the USB sockets, then would you want to risk the motherboard? Would it not be better to buy a new mobo?

I have a NEC chipped 5port (plus 1 extra port internaly) USB 2.0 PCI card, which you can have for a £5 Paypal Gift.

cicobuff the cost of a pci card far outweighs the cost of a mobo. Look up the price of socket 754 mobo on ebay ;-) Common fault on certain mobo's is that the usb ports go, this is the only way round it.

Anyway summoner ill take it thanx m8. Send me over your details and ill get on it asap.

May be it's time to move onto a new platform?

I just moved to a AMD X2 7750, cheap Asus 750a SLI motherboard, Nvidia 9600GSO video card and some nice 1066MHz memory, for just under £220.

It makes my Spinpoint F1 fly (old system was limited to SATA-1).

This is a system im rebuilding to sell on m8 ;-)

Fed up of having a shiite load of parts stuck around my workshop from various system repairs... need to shift a few of them so im putting together a basic rig for a m8's little boy to use. Homework and basic web surfing is all he'll need so this rig will do fine. Ive got loads of pc stuff i really need to ebay but i just dont seem to find the time... this rig suits me fine as i can clear some of them.

Lol, ya I finally read your post in it's entirety. Let's just hope the motherboard keeps it up for a while longer.

I know what youre saying about the mobo though... but ive had mobo's in the past, 2 of them actually, that have had the same probs. All other parts on them tested fine except the USB controller. I advised both of my clients to get a PCI card upgrade and they have been working fine every since. Saves a bit of cash tbh and hastle setting up/transferring files to a new build. They were both happy.
