Must be someone out there who has got a decent drum kit gathering dust, I live near watford, so would need to be in the surrounding area, i.e. N London, Herts, Bucks, Berks

Looking for a decent drum kit for my 14 year old daughter, looking for a bargain- I don't wanrt to pay the earth.

I have an LG Viewty touch screen phone to trade with if interested

Starcaster by Fender are a range aimed at beginners (in guitars aswel).
It's probably good enough for beginners but any more and you'll notice the difference - shops like argos and tesco are the general kind of ones who do it so don't expect miracles.
If you want better value for money I would go for a second hand one that hasn't been playerd much if poss.

The TD3 is electric though where as the drum kit linked by astroboy is acoustic. If you don't want to hear her practicing you'll want an electric one :-)

Bought her a practise drum kit off ebay a few months ago and its AWFUL, went to Ideal Home Ex and she tried a Roland kit, the difference was amazing !!! , I want an electric kit for the reasons you gave.

A number of music shops i've been in during the last few months seem to be blowing the older Rolands and Yamahas out for a couple of hundred pounds each, I guess it's proper back room stock in family-owned shops. I had one of the original/second revision Yamahas (cost 549 IIRC) and to be absolutely honest it was complete rubbish. Well-made enough but the sounds were awful- i'd suggest you consider picking up an 80s Simmons kit on ebay for under £200 because at least you know it'll sound good and that when it comes to sell it you're going to make your cash back.
