I bought one last week. First attempt was from Maplins but, as usual, it was DOA. Had the usual argument with them about getting money back. So, for at least the tenth time, I've vowed never to shop there again.

I decided to give the Argos 5.8Ghz (048/3713) a try because I could return it easily! Surprisingly (?), it's very good, virtually no interference and the remote works upstairs. Costs nearly £70 though.

From internet research, it seems that it's best to avoid 2.4Ghz senders if you or anyone else in range has a wireless network. I had a 2.4Ghz one a few years ago and it was completely useless because I've got both a wireless network and wireless burglar alarm - all I ever saw was snow.

The reviews on the Argos one are very mixed so i think that it's a matter of giving it a try and you may (or may not :x) be lucky.

I use a 5.8 ghz version and it works well, I transmit my Sky/Media Centre/DVD player through to a TV in my bedroom and have full control.

It's perfectly watchable. You get the odd bit of interference but nothing unacceptable. For perfect reception, I think you'd have to go wired but the 5.8Ghz is infinitely better than the 2.4.

Incidentally the Maplins one was £60 - I couldn't find anything cheaper. Would be OK if anything they sold actually worked. Could be just me though.

Sorry - I ended up using ebay as I couldn't source anything I thought looked reasonable from elsewhere.
