i've got a beauty that won't fit in the new tv cabinet widthwise,
even striping it down couldn't go that low though, depends on what spec/abilities you are after, this is a review of the case mine is in

the components are asus am2 board,(nvidia 630i), 500Gb seagate drive, slimline dvd writer, amd athlon x2 dual core processor (4400), 1Gb ddr2 800.
This was custom built as a media center to run media portal so currently using a tuned XP home install on a 30GB SSD, (boots in 15 secs) with dual freeview tuner.
using MP it can record up to 4 channels at once

not a huge amount as i was building 2 one for upstairs and one for down, and got some good discounts also as i work as a field engineer was able to do all the build/work my self, think the parts for each came in around £500, BUT WHAT A NICE TOY

fort i had gone for different cases and when mrs bought new tv cabinet was able to swap, then the upstairs tv blew up and can't justify buying another as step son used it most and he has left home now hence spare htpc.

hers a post with screen shots i did for MP

yeah after it all i think i would have gone that route too prob is all the ones from pc world etc are really really crappy, poorly designed boxes that sound like jets and cook all the components with few features you can actually use and very little WAF (wife acceptance factor), get saving and make me an offer ;)
ps the home icons on MP(pic 3) rotate as you press the direction keys on remote, looks sooo cool
