WTD: MP3 player with some specific requirements (NO LONGER REQUIRED) £25.00

Hiya,

I'm looking for an MP3 player which can be used whilst being on a charger. The idea is that it will be installed in the car and be plugged into the car seat of my daughter permanently. We're currently using a 256mb technika player, but it runs out of batteries every other week, so something that can be just 'hardwired' into the car must be better.

I've got a budget of about £25 and would like one with a decent capacity, but the biggest requirement is that it works whilst being powered...

I have a Purple Sony 2GB Mp3 player, sealed

Model similar to nw a002 if not that.

Not sure if it can be used while charging as i want to keep it sealed but a few minutes charge lasts hours

I will only consider player which are confirmed working, as I tried it this afternoon with a borrowed iPod shuffle (the 1st gen stick), and that would either charge or play, but not both at the same time.

How are you going to 'hardwire' it in ?

you may wanna get one of these: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/04/25/cassette_mp3_player/

i don't think they require batteries

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Free_UK_Delivery/MP3_Cassette_SD_Card_Reader_98741/MP3_Cassette_SD_Card_Reader_98741.htm maplin is probably fairly reliable, little bit more than you wanted to spend though

http://www.oknewshop.com/products/cassette-adapter-mp3-player-for-cars-reads-sdmmc-10203.html?currency=GBP - cheaper, i've not heard of the company before though...

they have batteries built in and can be charged from the car cigarette lighter.

this is of course if your car has a cigarette lighter and a cassette player

With hardwire I mean, running on a cigarette lighter power adapter. Most players seem to use the USB socket for charging, it's just a matter of finding which ones allow you to use it whilst on charge.

Unfortunately, I don't have a cassette player in the car, nor do any of the descriptions mention that you can use it whilst charging... Can you see what the difficulty is? There's a million cheap players on ebay, but since they dont mention it (and sellers are usually just boxshifters) I can't just buy one on a whim :(

An ipod can be used whilst charging, I'll 100% guarantee that. And you can car chargers easily.

But not the 1st gen shuffle I tried this afternoon, and looking at how the single port on the new gen shuffle neither. Unless there is a docking station for the new gen which charges and has a headphones socket?

Other iPods I can't say, and looking at prices I doubt there is one in my budget...

I took your advice and bought a Mini from ebay. Thanks for the recommendation!
