Once it's modded it will play both originals/backups, no need to open the xbox again. You only need to open it if you want to flash the firmware again.

so this back up bussiness is it simple enuf to do???
#7
Also can Xbox Live be used or they like block modded games or whatever?

To be honest, no one in their right mind would do it for less than £50.

You have to bare in mind the responsibility of flashing the console for the customer, if something goes wrong for any reason you will have to replace it for them.

Add to that they usually expect free flash updates as new firmware comes out, and also expect the original firmware to be restored to the drive if for some reason they need to return the unit to Ms.

Too much responsibility for £20, let GWD do it lol

I have done a fair few myself not through choice but purely because the people I know I am the only one capable of doing it , for for my
trouble I ask £70 all in including postage , seems steep but most of the machines I have done I have taken back a few times
to upgrade to new firmwares free of charge, in my estimation they got a good deal.

I somehow doubt GWD will take your console back for free if a newer firmware arises:whistling:

You do get what you pay for.

£70?

How's Black Bess these days?
#10
Yes back ups are easy to make.
Yes you can go on xbox live (at your own risk)
#11
Wow £70!!? thats quite the price considering it didnt even take me 40 minutes to do mine and it was my first try! all I needed was a VIA sata card which cost me £5 :)
#12
£70 minus £30 for me to arrange courier pickup and then also ship
the item back.

So £40 really, not a great deal seeing as on average ive taken some back
2 or 3 times to upgrade to even newer firmware, countless ones set back
ive had to put the original firmware back on the drive also ( no extra charge ).

Different perspective from different sides of the fence, believe me those
who scoff at charging anything over £50 would quickly realise why
you would have to be insane to be offering the service for anything less.

If you notice GWD also charge a premium for extended support, the £42
gets your console flashed but in terms of future updates or anything going
wrong with the console you are on your own, and at some point or other
you will most likely need something or other doing so you will incur another charge.

Saying that anyone could offer a no frills service for £42 all in, with a dont
bother me once its done, I have no more responsibility attitude.

I offer a £30 flashing service in the Birmingham area, and have already done a few HD members 360's as well as a host of others from all over the place.

It takes around 20 - 25 mins and your welcome to come and wait while it's being done, also 95% of the time your warranty sticker stays intact so you have a great chance of getting it replaced if still under warranty.

I sent mine off to GameWorld when the flashing was first available and i didn't have the means to do it myself, but not only did they remove the warranty sticker, they also wrote on the internal dvd drive....obvioulsy so they knew they flashed it but did my warranty no good at all....lol

anybody does the modding in the London area?
#15
i always thought gettin a mod chip was safer?

#17
cheers guys great help, shame no ones around the Swansea area, might just send it off for the £43, seems pretty good deal, still got one more question, why does it need new firmware? is that only for online? cause i would only play originaals online just to be safe so would this mean i would only need it doing once? Thanks for everyones help!

Hey, I am also wondering about this, why does it need new firmware? Does that mean if I get GDW to mod my 360 in a few months some new games wont work without newer firmware (costing another £40 for a reflash)???

I was looking at getting a cheap original XBOX for similar purposes.. does anyone know what retailed is selling them at the cheapest?

Thanks All

It's worth searching on http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showforum=29 if you're looking for someone to flash your drive, make sure you read any feedback left by people who have used them.
The guy who I got to do mine is http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=544498. It cost me £30, however I did open up the console myself so that I didn't have to post the whole thing to him, instead I posted just the drive. The £30 included return special delivery, I posted out my drive on a Wednesday morning and got it back Friday morning. You can still post the console itself but he will probably charge more for postage.

#31
how do you get it updated???? would it mean sending it off everytime?
#32
Is there a mod to play ntsc games on a pal console and how
#33
as andy woody do updates mean sending off all the time as mine is already modded but i havnt updated it.
#34
Andywoods I come up to manchester on some weekends so could mod in SK8 for £40 - give me a bell if you're interested.

re updates if you get a firmware update to your drive, you can choose to update it for a newer revision with more features e.g less noise, using DVD-r instead of dual layers (on some hacks etc).

IMHO if it aint broken...leave it!
#35
what so you can download official updates and my xbox 360 will stay hacked
