They've apparently changed their storage policy from fragmented files to storage in actual data centres with 128-bit AES Security and TLS encryption so might be worth checking out.

Some pros and cons in the reviews, like most services, but might be worth looking at again with the new storage policy.

Security

Degoo uses 128-bit AES to encrypt files, so it is very secure. They additionally encrypt all server communications using TLS, which ensures your privacy when accessing your files through their software.

There is no option to use a personal encryption key or passphrase, so this isn’t an NSA-proof backup service. Degoo still controls the encryption keys.

Degoo claims to store multiple copies of files in reliable data centers, but they’re a bit light on specifics here. I confirmed with CEO Carl Hasselskog that they use a combination of Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage for their infrastructure. Data centers are located in Northern Virginia and Taiwan (to optimize speed for customers in Southeast Asia).

Review ..

Pros
Degoo doesn’t keep files on user computers anymore, all data are encrypted and stored on company’s servers;
Convenient file sharing services, easy to send to a friend, even if he/she does not have account with Degoo;
Simple interface of application, minimum amount of actions is required from user;

Cons
Non-optimized apps for Windows and Mac;
Still no application for iPhone;
Testing revealed some problems with app removal;
No possibility to manage backup copies from website.

On the basis of those reviews I think its worth a try, good amount of space which I'll use as a secondary back of certain files. Watch out for the Avast sign up though during the registration process i.e. don't just click through it, unless you want Avast you need to decline this option...I think it was either on the second or third page of the installation wizard.

It'll be a false positive. The download is clean. I tried it out on my MacBook and it seems to work ok. I wasn't happy with the limited functionality though, so uninstalled it.

It does seem a bit silly that they don't have an IOS app yet. You'd have thought with a service such as this, being far more space than any other provider, they'd want maximum exposure.

What is minerd.exe? My Anti-Virus says it's a virus/trojan. Why?

minerd.exe is a small executable which is used to mine digital currencies. By activating processor sharing we unpack minerd.exe and run it at low load when there's enough processor capacity left.

You might get a warning from your Anti-Virus software saying minerd.exe is a virus or trojan. This is because it cannot verify the author of the executable. We have been in contact with the leading Anti-Virus companies to white-list our minerd.exe but a few still has it on it's black-list. This is why your Anti-Virus might still thinks it's a virus.

You don't have to be worried about using our minerd.exe as it's compiled directly from this Github project into an executable.
It means your computer is part of a large network of computers providing computational power, in what is called cloud computing, to compute various stuff. It might be making weather forecasts, understanding complex diseases or mining digital currency. Activating processor sharing lets us at Degoo to be profitable while still offering you free backup.

When you choose to share unused processor time with Degoo your processor can do the following thing:

Mining scrypt-based digital currencies, like Litecoins.
It's of course optional and you can enable or disable processor sharing at any time if you change your mind. You can always try it but you're not obligated to take part if you're not feeling it's your thing.

Been using the paid version of this for a clients backup for a while, never had any issues, recommended

Just a heads up, i asked them about file retention and how long they keep hold of your files if you don't sign in to their clients or website. They replied (albeit a month later) "Your backups will remain on the cloud for as log as you keep your account active. To stay active, all you have to do is allow Degoo to run or log into your Degoo account page (https://degoo.com/me). Your backups will be deleted after 60 days if stay inactive."

That being said, this is an awesome freebie backup solution.
