A worthy cause, there is a great need for awareness raising and education in this area, which is fraught with vested interests and political point scoring.

It's whether the costs of manufacture & delivery exceed the benefits of promotion and awareness raising...
There's already a large industry producing wristbands, for all sorts of charities and other institutions wishing to promote their cause and raise awareness, enabling the 'feelgood factor', by allowing us to show the world our loyalties, concerns and good deeds.

While I don't dispute that there is a need to reduce our carbon (and other harmful) emissions, the root of the UK government's drive on carbon is our (failing) commitment to the Kyoto protocol. There's a mass of sly manoeuvres and dubious accounting going on to attempt to improve the appearance of our performance in this area, distorting the real picture..

Our building standards, despite recent revisions, are paltry in terms of what is achievable and environmental performance.

We live in a world where the dominant economic theory is one of unlimited growth, necessary to save us form the collapse of society, recession and a return to subsistence; where unused resources are perceived of as waste rather than future collateral, and where economic theory does not adequately value natural processes and resources.

It's in your hands. Your choices and actions will help to determine the shape of the future.
