thanks for the link, am not a british gas customer but looking through the site ... am interested to know "No carbon footprint. As a Zero Carbon customer, we will match all the electricity you use with electricity from renewable sources. This is supplied to the national grid, which in turn supplies your home. We will also offset 100% of the carbon emissions from the gas and electricity we supply to you so you’ll have a zero carbon footprint from the energy from British Gas." can someone kindly explain how does offsetting work?

as far as i am aware, "zero carbon" means that if they produce a carbon footprint, then then will offset that by planting trees etc. although, they say "we will match all the electricity you use with electricity from renewable sources", which to me just reduces their carbon footprint by 50%. i may be wrong.

I got mine earlier in the year. Got 4 from my electricity supplier too. Seeing as we already use the energy saving ones, I should never need to buy another bulb ever!

that's what i thought that's why i asked ... surely 0% is almost too ambitious to be true ...

u know it's like they're promising trains every 15 secs by the olympics ("The Olympic Park in east London will be served by one train every 15 seconds, providing a total capacity of 240,000 per hour"). i am skeptical, i know it works elsewhere in the world (unmanned as well) but here, not sure - would mean less than 5 secs to board the train!

it would be fantastic if we could offset 0% but me thinks there's a flawed fact in the marketing spin somewhere there ...

What is the point of this thread if they automatically get sent to you anyway? There is no link to request them and its for customers only. Might have helped if you put that in the title.
