5 Free Bids (worth £5) on Penny Auction Website

Just had a leaflet put through my door for Batty Bid - a new online auction website.

They are launching tomorrow so all the items are currently on hold but basically all items will have a starting price of just one pence.

You buy auction credits and each bid increments the bid by an extra penny. From the leaflet they will be auctioning some big items such as games consoles, laptops, cash etc

They are giving 5 free bids when registering. :-)

Looks like the launch will be with smaller items first but even in the first week they are auctioning a portable laptop, cameras, £100 cash and ipods

Link is http://www.battybid.com
I think how it works is the auction runs during the day and everyone who bids increments the price by one penny and adds 60 seconds to the bid end time.

Please post if anyone wins from here. I thought if we get on here early someone might win tomorrow from the hotukdeals group :-)

So it costs a quid to bid a penny whether you win it or not? I can see this taking off!!!

Serious, £1 to bid 1p ? Then you still have to pay if you don't win. Stupidest idea ever.
I smell a self promo also

I assume so, I only got the info from the OP. 5 bids worth £5 therefore each one worth a quid, each one incrememts by a penny.

Don't think self promo, OP been here long time.

Yes thats what it is - I actually posted it because I thought it seems good that you might be able to win with the free credits. i use this site quite a bit and have had many good deals off it so if i see something i think looks good i try and post (which isnt very often as someone has always beaten me to it). Admittedly more often than not I get a negative score but this was infact my first freebie posting and i was expecting a positive response!!

and just for the record, no its not self promotion - wish i could think of something entrepreneurial to do! lol

It's a bit misleading:

"Bid until the countdown hits zero. The most recent bidder wins!"

The counter is extended 60 seconds when someone bids, so unless you know the future and know how much it's going to go for then you'd be paying hundreds of pounds to win something. Also there's p&p on stuff so the £25 gift card is £5.50 even if you happen to be extremely lucky and no-one bids within the 60 seconds after you. The other 100 people who bid (for example) are going to be paying £100 between them!! The chances are of course that you'll just lose your quid!! Nice little earner for them!!

There was something almost identical to this a while ago.
