No CC/bank details or payments details needed;

Fill in all the * fields, just use a standard postcode where it says zip code, select any state, select UK as country

click continue,

then you'll get three emails in succession, follow the instructions and you'll get your newserver details.

For a good guide to newsgroups and more info on how to use them see this thread http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60809&highlight=newsgroup%2A

some of the comments on page 1 may put you off a bit but once you get into them they are easy to use!

Yes before anybody asks it is possible to rip this off constantly with different email addresses but I for one would really prefer it if you didn't.

In complete agreement as this is a great way for newbies to give newsgroups a risk free trial so they can discover the joys of true high speed downloads!

Exacly, I pay them for this since it's a great service at a great price, it goes down for an hour or so occcasionally but for the fees they charge I think that's forgiveable.

The retention is great too.
#4
Could someone explain why they dont use Google groups - which has access to all public newsgroups and IS FREE !

I got a free trial of this before.
Seems like a pretty good service

I Dont think the google groups will cater for what people on other news servers are after :giggle:

I use Giganews myself but so i wont be taking up the offer, but hitnews.eu seems like a pretty decent server as a relative of mine uses it.

Ahhh I have never looked at the binary section so that would explain my innocence! Still I always though there were applications that could fetch and reconstruct such postings. Does Google filter out the binary section then?

I get following error when i try to register on gmail

Signup from this E-Mail address is not allowed

Any pointers:?

use a hotmail or a proper address?

Their servers are going to grind to a halt pretty soon, considering there's no mention of a limit on the free trial.

i used these originaly on the free trials when i posted the deal before but soon switched over to become a paying member

great service, very cheap, only thing was the retention said up to 100 days but found it to only be 60 days but they said they are looking into upgrading as we speak.

60 days is normally plenty though as people normally re-post, and with broadband speeds as fast as they are now downloading is no longer a long process

The retention seems to differ from group to group for some reason, I've seen one group that has 90 day and another that has slightly less than 60, I think they may work on some sort of priority system as the 90 day group was a really popular console one.

As for Google Groups, it's not that they will filter out binaries, they just won't subscribe to them.

Signed up for this last night, joined Newzbin (25p per week), and got NewsLeecher. Downloaded 2 films with my bandwidth maxed out. Had been using torrents before this but at this speed I think Usenet is definately the way forward!

Thanks, voted hot

Signed up when it was a 3 day trial and was impressed. Had to cadge some help but found it very easy once I'd got my foot in the door. I'll give a mate of mine a nudge in the direction of this so he can try it for a week. Maybe he'll get me a pint for the pointer... Maybe... Heheh.

I just wish I'd have hung on a bit and got 7 days instead of 3!!!

Get's another hot vote from me!!!

ED: Still says 3 days!
