I received an email about this and it works.

This Valentine's Day, we want to show how much you mean to us by offering you
a FREE magazine of your choice from the BBC portfolio.

There is something for everyone - from gardening to history and science, food and
motoring, homes, and even Doctor Who.

Simply select your preferred magazine from those below and
call 0844 848 4559 - quoting code VDE09

Titles available are Radio Times, Good Food, Olive,Easy Cook, C Beebies, Country File, History, Dr Who, Focus, Gardeners World, Home & Antiques, Gardens, Lonely Planet, Good Homes, Match of the day, Top Gear, Wild Life, Sky at night.
I have taken advantage of the offer myself, they do try and get you to order two further magazines at 50p per month but I declined and there was no pressure and they are sending out my mag.
There are no obligations or catches, simply call 0844 848 4559 -
quoting code VDE09 to claim your free copy today (calls charged at local rates).

This offer is subject to availability and is only available to UK residents. The offer will close on 15th February 2009 and is restricted to one magazine per person. Lines are open Monday - Thursday 9.30am - 8.45pm, Friday 9.30am - 8.15pm and Saturday 10am - 4pm. Please quote this code when you call: VDE09. Calls will cost no more than 5p per minute from a BT landline. Calls from mobiles and other providers may vary.

MY CALL LASTED ABOUT 2 MINUTES THAT WAS ALL.

An excellent offer. One free magazine. I also took them up on the additional offer of 3 copies of another magazine for £1. Remember to cancel your DD, after it is taken though, as otherwise it could be expensive!

Thank you

Have gone for the EasyCook magazine.. Maybe get some handy tips.. :)

Decided to go for the extra 3 months for a £1 deal as the girl was nice on the phone.. I'm such a sucker sometimes..

Still, should be ok, just got to remember to cancel..

Yep I signed up as well. I'm trying EasyCook too. The very nice lady said that they will send a letter before they take any more money from the direct debit so that will act as a reminder to cancel.

Haha! How can the BBC possibly afford to do this!

I have shown the details of the cost of the call in my post. It is 5p per minute and I was on the phone for about 2 minutes tops so I guess mine cost me 10p!

My call lasted about 40 seconds. It sounded like she had been getting calls all morning and couldn't really be bothered with trying to sell me much. Heat and rep.

Has anyone tried ordering on behalf of someone else? I'd like to send a magazine to a female friend and they might get a bit funny if I say my name's Amy.

Good find! Had been snooping through Lonely Planet recently while at train station, but never been able to justify buying it! £1 trial is excellent idea and will send duplicate reminders to cancel the Direct Debit!!!

Great deal thankyou! I had seen Easy Cook Magazine about a year ago, but didn't want to pay the price, though the recipes looked really lovely and tempting! I went for the free magazine then two more at 50p each, offer.

When I was on the phone ordering it, the guy said that everyone is ordering Easy Cook and Olive, hehe. He was really nice and asked if I would like to order any other magazines too, on the same offer!! So I ordered Top Gear for my son, same offer again. So, six magazines for £2, bargain!!

Heat and rep rep rep!

Clicky click to browse through a copy of Easy Cook, Im swooning at the frozen banana and peanut butter cheesecake!

That has to be one of the weirdest telephone calls I have made, though. Why did she want to know the first two letters of the town I was born in?
