Great idea!

This event will last 1 hour in each store. Please refer to the times indicated below:

Times:
England and Wales 10am to 11am,
Scotland 9am to 10am,
Northern Ireland 12pm to 1pm.

On the morning of Sunday 6th November, we will be opening our stores with altered conditions within the stores, to offer families affected by autism and additional needs a calm environment to fully enjoy browsing and discovering Christmas gift ideas.

To ensure a successful and enjoyable event is achieved in every store, lights will be slightly dimmed and fluorescent lighting reduced where possible. Music and Tannoy announcements will be switched off during the event, and autism friendly signage will be utilised to offer a more calming influence. There will also be a quiet zone available should the need arise.

There may be exceptional times in some Shopping Centres - for more information on your local event, please contact your local Toys R Us store: http://toysrus.co.uk/toys/locator

I'm guessing you can't actually buy anything until 11.00 (in England / Wales) though due to Sunday trading laws?

Yeah, that should be correct. Some supermarkets will open on Sundays to get customers in and as soon as it hit's 10am (Or whatever their opening times are) they can checkout.

Sun opening times could vary by store with ToysRus, a few that I have checked can vary between 10am and 11am. Might be an idea to check ahead of the day :)

Large shops can trade for 6 hours between 10am and 6pm, it's up to them what 6 they choose. Could be 10-4 or 11-5, even 12-6 or any of the half hours in between.

Yep true but most stores I know are 11-5 :)

Why can't this be the default setting for all shops anyways? Would be much nicer

Cant purchase in NI till 1 so by the time everyone who goes has paid the shop will be open normal and will likely be music etc back on. Kinda defeats the purpose of the event.

Does dimming fluorescent lighting not lead to flickering, which can aggravate some people with Autism?

I'm just wondering why you are saying "anyways" with an s on the end. Wondering if you are actually American or it's just something you've picked up from watching TV or reading the internet or something

I'm very very old, and it's just one of the many adverbial suffixes I use, along with always and towards. Anyways, you youngsters seem to be bringing it back into fashion so I sound less of an old fuddyduddy.

Seems he is just provoking a response as he has nothing better to do; Highlighting a single letter is scraping the barrel though. Classically known as an internet troll.

Not sure if I just downvoted this by accident or not (why does HUKD grey out the buttons as opposed to highlighting what you've done?). If I did, apologies!

No - he was pointing out a grammar error in a polite way, calling people trolls is, ironically, the behaviour of a troll. Yours sincerely, another Troll.

A purist may say that adverbs as a rule do not have a plural form, hence anyways is not really correct; anyways is however a popular colloquial form of anyway.

Alway is a very archaic form of always (there's a subtle difference), almost never used in current parlance.

The usage of toward and towards, being directional words, essentially depends on which side of the pond you hail from. Same as backwards, forwards etc.

Brilliant idea. Heat added.

While this is excellent for hypersensitive children/ adults, it's not so great for those who are hyposensitive. I'd actually feel terrible for taking my son during those times because he'd disrupt the peace and quiet for everyone else that they seem to be striving for :( Not quite as autism friendly as they probably think it is.

How daft is it that they can't open normal hours on Sunday. Surely In the government's best interest as they'll be creaming
