Avoid roaming charges while on holiday if you're not already on Vodaphone by ordering a FREE Vodaphone SIM card.

Also if you top up with just £10 you get 100 minutes & 500 texts to use while you are abroad.

From 1 June to 31 August it won't cost you any more to call, text or send picture messages when you're abroad than it does at home. This is because we've abolished our normal 75p roaming charge which is what you usually pay to connect a call to the UK with Vodafone Passport.

Simply opt in to Vodafone Passport and take your home rates with you to over 35 European countries, plus Australia and New Zealand. Then you can text home to gloat about the weather, ring the beach bar to reserve a table in the shade or send photos of that perfect white sand without worrying about the cost. If you're on Vodafone Passport already we have given you the promotion automatically, so you don't need to do a thing except enjoy your holiday.

We'll text you before the promotion ends and unless you opt out, you'll continue to enjoy our standard Vodafone Passport rates.

To opt in or to check if you've got Vodafone Passport
Pay as you go customer? Text PASSPORT to 2345.
Pay monthly customer? - Text PASSPORT to 97888.

What are you on about?
This would be handy to keep in touch whilst i am away thanks OP
Mine arrived today i got three great deal my girlfriend is away so it wil be cheap to speak to her hooray!!
Does anyone know if it will be the same price for her to recieve a call abroad? cos dont they charge for this? Is it basically exactly the same as if shes in the uk?
Think the OP is quoting the pay monthly SIM deal to get 100 minutes and 500 texts for £10.

Vodafone simply PAYT gives 100 minutes and 300 texts

Vodafone Simply is a pay as you go price plan that gives you more for your TopUp.

With a Freedom Pack, you turn a £10 TopUp into £50 worth of talk and texts - that's 100 minutes and 300 texts. Want even more value? £15 gets you 200 minutes and 600 texts. And for £20 you get 300 minutes and unlimited texts

Like to chat at weekends? Spend £5 of your TopUp during the week with Free Weekends and get unlimited free calls to Vodafone mobiles and standard UK landlines. Plus free texts to any standard UK mobile and up to 60 mins of free calls to other standard UK mobile networks.

Top up £5 a month - and with Text Unlimited you can text as much as you like.Fair usage policy applies to unlimited texts and calls.

Going abroad this summer? Then opt-in to Vodafone Passport. From 1 June to 31 August we've abolished the 75p roaming charge in 35 European countries, Australia and New Zealand. Available on all price plans.
Good deal, but just a warning, it does not include data charges, which will be charged at a rip off £8 per megabyte! I looked into one for when i go to the isle of man for the TT, but want to use mobile internet to update a blog. Would have cost me a fortune!
30 day contract SIM for £10 does give 100 minutes and 500 texts for £10 and includes the summer roaming. But got to get the credit check because it's a contract, and got to remember to cancel if you don't want to keep it.

The default option on the Simply PAYG SIM is just pay for your calls at the standard rates (20p per minute flat rate, to all networks. Texts are 10p each) which is 50 minutes or 100 texts or a combination of those, home or away.

If you get the Freedom Pack you can get the 100 mins and 300 texts (presumably included in the free roaming!) as described by tightasagnatschu but they only last 30 days even though it's PAYG. As far as I can tell, you get these minutes and texts INSTEAD of any credit. That might be all you need, but if you don't use it too much you'd be better off with a standard topup that doesn't expire after 30 days (can use it at home as well as abroad remember). Also the free roamiing T&C says "All Pay as you go optional extras e.g. Vodafone Free Weekends, Vodafone Stop the Clock, Vodafone Family or Vodafone Text Unlimited do not apply to calls or texts made whilst abroad." Hopefully it does include the Freedom Pack... the free roaming says it applies to all tarrifs (a Pack isn't really a tarrif) and the Freedom Pack DOES say UK only!

In general I prefer the Tesco tarrif which gives you free bonuses that last 30 days IN ADDITION to the actual topup you made, so you don't lose everything after 30 days. The free bonus definitely can't be used abroad, but the paid part of the credit can, and the charges in most countries are just 35p/15p to make/receive a call and 25p for a text, so this might be a better option if you don't want the contract (even for 30 days!) and if the freedom pack ends up not applying or if you want to pay with doubleup clubcard vouchers. http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=407824

Calls RECEIVED are free during the vodafone roaming offer though, so that's especially good - even on the Simply PAYG just ask someone to call you back - and the Freedom Pack is pretty good for just a holiday if it does definitely apply.

This is all from what I've gathered reading the web site including the T&C, anyone on vodafone who knows for sure about these packs or anyone who has read the T&C more carefully than me feel free to clarify.

tl;dr 30 day contract 100m/500t is described in OP not PAYG, PAYG might give you 100m/300t abroad with a freedom pack but I find the T&C unclear, standard PAYG topup gives you much less but lasts longer than a month and definitely works abroad
Thanks, ordered. H&R added.
great find thanks!
Seems a good deal
ahh how annoying its not lasting forever as i am off traveling in oct and so will be expensive ::(
Stupid grrrr I'm in Australia already so too late to get one, and going to new zealand in a week aswell!
