A fantastic game, going free as part of Ubisoft's 30 year anniversary.

For anyone who hasn't played, I'd implore you to give it a go. It's a fantastic game.

Also timed well as it appears they will be announcing a sequel in the near future.

Fantastic game, have had it for years on steam but didn't get along with it not having native controller options. played it a few months ago on PS3 and thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the sequel

is uplay something you have to pay for? anything dodgy about it?

No - it's just Ubisoft's PC digital distribution platform, performing a similar function to Steam, or EA's Origin.

Some find it overly intrusive in certain ways, or just don't like it because it's not Steam - but it's not really anything all that bad.

There's a few games I consider to be all-time classics that I feel that about.

Goldeneye is the primary culprit. Basically unplayable now, but was a revelation in its day.

Although it is only multiplayer, this is a group of fans great effort to bring things a little closer to the present...

I did buy this game for PS3 but it was pretty much unplayable due to the inability to invert-y without also doing so for the x-axis.

Having just purchased a Steam controller I'm pretty sure I can make it work well with that so am looking forward to trying it out again.

Sadly it won't be any time soon. The creator said BGAE 2 is now in "pre-production" which means it's at least 3 years away!

The Xbox 360 remake looks so good yet we'll never play it. :(

This. My only nitpick with Steam, Uplay and Origin is that this feels like owning three consoles on a single platform. I.e., demanding to use a different service for games instead of a single one.

But whatever, the games are free so can't really be complaining. :p

This is one of my favorite games. Played it on the gamecube back in the day.

Without multiple platforms, you would have a monopoly.

So, for some strange reason this website won't let me post a reminder for this as it's already been posted. Now as it goes FREE today I hope everyone remembers this week old post then. :D

Yeah, they deleted it when I posted it this morning as well. I don't know about other people, but I've slept since this got put up. And it's no reminder for today! It was wrong that this was allowed in the first place!
