Not a traditional freebie, but great for anyone in or around the Blackpool area who has ever wanted to see how they make the world famous Illuminations happen...
Thursday 10th July: 10am - 8pm
This is the one day in the year when the doors are thrown open at the Rigby Road depot to reveal a grotto of halls, corridors, storage areas and a network of workshops where the world famous Illuminations are created.
See behind the scenes of the Illuminations, how they are designed, created and realised, from the first drawings to appearing on the six-mile stretch of Blackpool Promenade. You will be privileged to preview some of the new features for this years show, including a new piece by Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, new additions to our popular Dr Who section, and the winning national design competition entry Local heads.
This is also the last ever open day before the Illuminations depot moves location.
Venue: Rigby Road East, Blackpool, FY1 5ES
