fizzfizz

Just found this via this site: http://www.mostiwant.com/blog/

We all know about DropBox for free online file storage and sharing. But there are many other companies out there offering the same service for free, and one of the most popular and well functioning ones is Box ( formerly Box.net ). Box provides simple, secure sharing from anywhere – letting you easily store files online, send big files fast, access content on-the-go, and collaborate with others.

Normally, Box.net provides users with 5 GB free account with a 25mb file size limit. Now, In honor of the HelloSign launch (a division of HelloFax, and lets you fill out and sign documents online, completely free), Box is giving away 25 GB of Free Online Cloud Storage for life to anyone who checks out HelloSign today. 25 GB never expires, valid for life, worth €9.99 Per Month. * Offer valid for new box accounts only. You’ll have to create a new account.

Sign up for free digital signatures with HelloSign and get 25GB of free storage with Box

1. Visit HelloSign.com, type your e-mail address and click on the “Try it free” button.

2. Within few minutes, you will receive an e-mail from HelloSign (admin@mail.hellosign.com) with the subject of “Box Promotion” . Click the “Here’s the link to get your 25 GB free with Box” link in the e-mail. You will then be taken to the Box.net free registration page. I'll keep mainly using dropbox but I can't say no to a free 25GB!

Also there IS desktop sync I think, if you go to the apps section, click windows and click the sync one, it was an upgrade button next to it but I managed to download, install, connect and sync my (albeit empty) account without having to upgrade anything.

Well, that was a complete waste of half an hour. Signed up, got the account, discovered that it only wanted me to upload files one-by-one. Tried the bulk upload gizmo that killed Firefox. Tried it with Opera and the bulk upload app crashed. Tried it with Chrome and it ran. but just sat there with it's finger up it's *** using 100% of the CPU, until I killed it.

I did say it's limited compared to Dropbox - but it's for life and when they finally get round to getting folder sync etc. we will have access to our 25gb and be able to use it like we want. By that time Dropbox will give away 25gb like skydrive.

It's has it's uses at moment with iOS devices and probably with android too.

joined up, it doesn't like folders, wants the files to be individually selected.

Anyone know how to batch upload? Can't see the option (needed for 100+ files)

download box sync addon and it creates a MY BOX FILES folder on your drive. Then Copy everything you want to be uploaded into it. This also does sub-folders so working ok now for me as I just use karens replicator to copy all the same folders into it on a weekly basis in the same way I do for dropbox .

cant have enough online backups lol

You can bulk upload files by clicking on upload, upload files and holding shift whilst selecting. The bulk uploader only works in Mozilla for me (and then its hit and miss) but this is lifetime and so will improve I am sure. Signed up with 2 accounts for 50GB
