Ignore the spiel, they are legally required in their contract to make the finals free to view.

Not sure if they were required to stream for free online so that's good news but otherwise this is an obligation

360 degrees would be ideal for Man City games, so you don't have to watch the pitch.

Can you imagine Sky doing this if they had won the rights?

When Sky held the rights (which they did for years) the final also aired on ITV. Ya know... for free.

BT have been castigated for their free coverage from Uefa, but still went ahead and renewed the deal. This is the least they can do for their terrible free to air coverage

BT Sport is set to make broadcast history with an incredible new range of viewing experiences as it prepares to show the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League finals free-to-air once again.

Absolutely anyone can watch both games online via the acclaimed enhanced video player right here on BTSport.com or the BT Sport app, as well as on YouTube and our BT Sport Showcase HD TV channel.

For the first time ever, the UEFA Champions League final will be available in 360° virtual reality, with a number of streams available on YouTube and the new BT Sport Virtual Reality App.

This unmissable experience will allow fans to choose between a 360° produced programme with commentary and graphics or select their own camera viewpoint*.

Another pair of unprecedented moves will see the biggest game in world club football shown in 4K UHD on YouTube** and in 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos sound on BT TV.

4K on Youtube you say? Now I'm interested.

That is, if my Youtube app on my TV actually streams in 4K as it really doesn't like to do it as often as it should!

Or you know, you could just not watch them at all.

would be nice to view on PSVR not sure if that is possible though

I would imagine that UEFA's sponsors wanting a maximum audience was a lot to do with this being broadcast for 'free'

was about a week ago, gone is the Bt sport showcase SD (freeview 59), a now repalced with BT sport showcase HD (freeview ch 115) which is great for those with tvs with inbuilt freeview HD, but those with only FReeview (especially older people) they will be left without it.. and they are also more likely to not have the know how of streaming something live on youtube etc.

i do still get the BT sport showcase on Virgin.. but only in SD.. was hoping they would give us the HD version like freeview got..

I think that was the point. BT Sport bought the exclusive rights, so it amounts to the same thing really. They only won the deal on the basis that they would do this. Thus hardly showcasing BT Sport's generosity above Sky's as implied.

The Windows 10 BT App is very nice. Simple, quick, and you can resize it to fit where you want.
Despite what some (or I) think of BT, gotta give them props for their Win10 app. :{

How often is BT Sport offered to Sky customers at a discount?

BT penalise Sky customers if you don't at least have BT Broadband. It currently costs £28 to add BT Sport channel package on Sky's platform!

I'm really hoping United lose the Europa Final as BT will be licking their lips if they have 5 English sides in the Champions League.

Doesn't this defeat the object of having the exclusive Pay TV rights if you show the final for free?

As has been mentioned, this is kind of an obligation that UEFA forced upon BT. From what i remember, UEFA only allowed exclusive rights to be sold if the winning bidder allowed the finals to be shown on a free-to-air platform.

It doesn't seem as the though the footballing bubble is bursting anytime soon - but it has in my household!!!

Increased choice...YES. But it comes at a price. One that I can no longer afford.

4K me, BT being generous?!?

Is the content likely to be geo-locked? I'm travelling in India at the mo, so wonder if it'll work over here.
