Call Of Duty MW2 PC Free Weekend Steam

COD 6 multilayer is free for the weekend, pre loading has started.
Supposed to be amazing on the consoles.

link to Install (hopefully)
steam://install/10190

edit
If you are in the new GUI beta it seems to download it in the background.
Go to your steam apps folder / common, and you will see
call of duty modern warfare 2. It's getting larger by the minuet.

edit 2
It's now open, roughly till Monday, but who knows.

When you can eventually join a game and the host has a decent internet connection, its a decent multiplayer fps.

Shame without dedicated servers there is no competetive scene at all.
#14
No dedicated servers = epic fail

no wonder there is a freebie weekend after basicly shafting all the pc gamers, it didnt sell well on PC
#15
cant download it ????? any ideas
#16
just play the single player :P

Fred-

Oh thank god there's not. Brings out the worst in people.
#18
Awesome game! Very addictive!
#19
Not worth it... full of cheating tw*ts =p
#20
If you're used to playing multiplayer on PC I would avoid this. Lack of dedicated servers is a problem, no custom mods, maps and fun. Also small numbers of players in a match is poor (might be ok for consoles but not PC).
Myself I stick to TF2 and counterstrike for some fun and at the same time competetive games

Not really, people who want to play casually play on public servers and people who want a little more seriousness join ladders and leagues such as enemydown ETC, and if there is any flaming or bad behaviour during matches the offending teams will ultimately be kicked from the ladder.

I have no other idea what your statement implies?

lol that is so far from the truth its not even slightly convincing :whistling:
#23
I echo what others have said. On the PC this is let down by the lack of dedicated servers. There are too many people out there with slow or inadequate internet connections.

But, for free you have nothing to lose and can judge for yourselves.
#24
chance to try out the PC version for free - can't complain with that :)
#25
so its basically a free trial for the weekend?

guess its hot if you have never played it and wonder what all the fuss is about
#26
Is this going to be the full version of the online? Or will I need the disc to play this.
#27
Be warned, there's no pause button for the download, and it doesn't pause when you load up a game, so any online game playing while this is downloading is poor.

Agreed on the dedicated servers front. BC2 > MW2 :)

It will be the online component only which will be launched through the steam client, it's a hefty download at around 10-11gb IIRC so probaly best to leave it overnight.

Depends which UI you use. Most people haven't gone onto the Beta UI.
#32
When does it unlock? Thanks
#33

#34

Should unlock by tomorrow (4 PM somewhere in America).
