I thought it might be helpful for those who missed this earlier.
A great little online tool that helps you create proper passport size photos (for UK and other countries). If you have a printer at home then this works completely free (minus cost of ink and paper before anyone starts getting all technical on me).
If you don't have a printer at home then you can upload the passport photos you created on that site to tescophoto.com to get them printed and delivered to your local store for 15p.

I used this recently. Guidelines state they will not accept home printed photos. Ignore that this works fine. Just make sure you can see your eyes clearly ie remove glasses etc My photos got accepted.

HI, yes I know guidelines say not home prints - depends on the quality - I used them in the past and they were fine.
£5 for 5 pics in a photo booth is uck !

You can't down load the program which is what I thought you did - it is the completed photo you download .....
doh silly me.

There is a similar service at epassportphoto.com. Use the do it yourself option to get your pictures downloaded for free, then print at home (use photo paper) or take to Tesco/Boots/etc

Good timing for me.

Remember also that no part of your face can be shaded in anyway. I got my passport back last week and can barely see either of the pictures in the passport!

Me too :D Can't believe how bad they look when reproduced in the passport.

Very helpful...thank you so, so much.

Guys I can tell you from experience that if you print it at home it MUST be a good, high quality print. And it does need to fit every guideline laid out, it's not the passport office that sets the guidelines; it's an international aviation thing.
So make sure background is plain, light grey or cream, and you're facing the camera square on, glasses removed is best, etc etc.

And BE CAREFUL if you use an online service for filling in forms. There are some sneaky trickster third party websites out there charging people as much as, or more than, the cost of a passport, JUST for filling the form in for you. They do not always pass that money on to the passport office. To make sure it's legit, it MUST have ".gov.uk" in the URL. (Not "/gov_uk" or anything like that!) I was speaking with someone who got duped out of £145 which didn't o toward the cost of their passports.

I've tried using the site this morning and my picture keeps sticking on 'processing'. About to give up and try a different service.

According to my security system this download has a "Significant Trojan" embedded within it.
Not sure why this has not been commented on before though - that is a mystery.
Removed from p.c..!
