Experian have finally caught up with the competition and are offering their very basic credit score product called "CreditMatcher" for free.

This is NOT only for Barclaycard customers, like similar deals, and it isn't a one-off statutory report either. It simply shows your Experian credit score each month. There is no further explanation, only the score itself.

There's also the option to view recommended credit cards for your score.

They can only provide information that they're supplied with... So if it's wrong, it's the bank's /lender's /gas company's fault

I heard that just asking for a credit report can actually affect your credit score.

It affects it when you apply for any credit and a company asks for your credit score. So essentially you're screwed by simply doing the right thing. As usual.

I wonder where FOI request fall under asking your credit score. You should not be penalised for asking for information about your self.

So far as I understand it, FOI only applies to public bodies, and experian is private - so FOI doesn't apply.

Can anyone comment on whether this offers anything different to Noddle, which I'm already signed up to?

Imo noodle and clearscore are far better, this one only seems to show your score and no information such as accounts, searches etc, whereas noodle and clearscore show both your score and accounts information including searches..
However it is still very useful.

I am getting error while registering... Did any1 faced similar issue?
#15
Entered all my details & Card information, but it’s unable to verify my identity.

Will take up-to 1 week to confirm these details or request further information.

I was able to register last night, whilst this isn't as useful as others Experian is MUCH larger the Noddle and more widely used. I wouldn't really waste time yet trying to sign up if you have issues as there's 0 insight into your report apart from the score which is not so useful.

Looping login issues while attempting to reactivating my old account. I accept their terms and conditions and then click on submit - the same page reloads. Tried from different browsers from different machines/phones. Same result.

Anyone worked out how to solve this?

Absolutely rubbish. You can look at your report as many times are you like and it will make no difference to either report or score.

Then there are 2 types of search - hard and soft.

Soft searches also make no difference to your report or score, and are mainly used to confirm your identity - for example, insurance company providing a quote. These are not shown to any other company that checks your report

Hard searches CAN affect your score & report. These happen when you apply for a financial product and are visible to any other company that checks your report. It is up to them to decide whether it affects your application.

If you have several applications for loans in a short time, it may be seen as a sign that you are desperate for cash, or that you are planning to dramatically increase your debt - so maybe you aren't a good risk for them.

You aren't penalised for asking to see your credit report or score. Ever. The only searches that make a difference are the ones where you have applied for a financial product - those searches are visible to any other company you apply to as well.

You only get your score with this - you can't see your report.

ClearScore give you your full Equifax report and score for free, and Noddle gives you your Callcredit score and report for free.
