Good to know. I've got tickets but was thinking of cancelling because I'm not sure it's my type of film but if you recommend it then I'll give it a go.

Indeed. So much so it's made me want to watch more Loach and go see lead actor comic Dave Johns live.

That says rather more about you, your education and your intelligence, than it does about the film, I'm afraid. :|

Thanks for this OP. I had tickets for the showing in Belfast this morning but I was out seeing Level 42 (google them) last night and there was no chance I was getting up for 10.30.

I heard a few people sniffling in the cinema - I maintained my poker face - definitely worth seeing. Much better than my last freebie (though I'm grateful to get them!) Me Before You which was a bit too gooey for my liking.

Saw it today and have to say it is the best film I have seen in years. Funny at times but really very, very sad and a damning reflection on how people are treated when trying to access benefits.

I'm surprised to see someone on MSE comment they thought the movie was "unrealistic". It really isn't exaggerated or using shock tactics - these things are really happening, right now. People are so blinded by the stories they see in the media all the time they forget there are real people, good people, struggling.

The only part I thought was a little overdone was when Katie opened a can of beans in the food bank and ate straight out the tin, there and then. Most of us would wait till we got home, but I can well believe when you're that hungry and starving yourself so long you lose the plot.

Saw this last night, poignant message, a monolithic state (Orwellian 1984 style) employs and shapes employees to treat people as they do to a three-legged dog (Shea).

Well, I went to see it on your recommendation. A first in the cinema for me,the film ended....... silence......... and the audience applauded. S ome of us sniffled and left. I was expecting a disappointing soppy film but this was very thought provoking and moving with superb acting and script. Well worth watching. Thanks for recommending.
