If you own The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim on PC you can now download the total conversion modification 'Enderal - The Shards of Order' totally free of charge.

Fully translated English version has just been released.

Straightforward installation.

A whole new world, story and game mechanics using the Skyrim engine. At least 30 hours of original gameplay.

please note: you will need an existing install of Skyrim for this mod, so may not be free for everyone :-(

Existing mods may clash and a 'clean' copy of Skyrim is recommended.

I've read that it is a little more intensive to run than Skyrim so I'm just hoping my PC can handle it... fingers crossed

to be fair it is but the enderal launcher has so much optimisation that I think you will have no issues if you was able to play the original with a little tweaking.

If you like this then you should also consider their excellent work in a similar way for Oblivion as well. These guys do excellent work!

Have tried it now. Runs perfectly, very well optimised. The story escalates very quickly after about 5 minutes in! BURN BURN!

Watched bits of DansGaming play through it, it's good for sure. Uses Skyrim assets but is a completely different game.

Existing mods may clash and a 'clean' copy of Skyrim is recommended.

This is why i'm waiting until i'm fully done with Skyrim.

If these guys don't land some sort of industry job after this I'll be amazed.

I haven't actually found time to play Skyrim yet. Any thoughts on whether it matters if I start with Enderal and play vanilla Skyrim at a later date?

I'm thinking you should play through Skyrim first. Just so you can learn the mechanics of the game in a slightly more user friendly environment. Enderal doesn't hold your hand too much at the beginning.

Unless you've played Oblivion and know the basics already? in which case you can jump into either.

I played Skyrim 2 Months ago, completed it. Now I've forgotten most of the controls lol.
But enderal is quite dark, just played the first 5 mins. Had me a bit scared.
