Internet Security (formerly Smart Security) is ESET's all-in-one internet security program which is a step up from NOD32, its antivirus component.
ESET have released a beta of Internet Security 10 which has been updated for new features like webcam protection, home network protection and stronger malware protection.
Main features include:
Antivirus (realtime protection, HIPS, heuristic detection and PUPs)
Internet security (web, email, antispam and antiphishing)
Firewall (with network attack protection, IDS, botnet protection)
Identity protection (banking & payments, parental control, anti-theft)
Support is for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and also Windows 10. (Sorry XP users - you should upgrade already!)
I have installed the beta today and it says the licence expires on 31/10/2016, so that's just over 2 months of free protection.
I'd recommend ESET if you like a fast and fully-featured robust AV product but also if you're a power user and want granular interactive control over the firewall and threat detection. If you have a Barclays account then of course Kaspersky is free for you for 2 PC's on a yearly basis, but I like a bit more control as Kaspersky is defaulted to act automatically for everything so you have to find what works for you.
Obviously the only catch is that the product is a beta, so there may be bugs - the website says the Known Issues currently revolve around the new functionality not being fully implemented yet, but there are no issues they've mentioned for the main protection. There is a beta community forum as well for those having trouble.
