Windows in the West - by Avril Patton.

It was the only one I could think of off hand that looked similar.

I posted it as a break from last minute present shopping.

I guess it should have been a freebie - as its from a software development company.

This was my school drama teachers house. He is pictured looking from his (I'm sure) 2nd floor window with his housecoat on.
It is in Glasgow's Hyndland area.

Great painting

Where is it?

I had seen many houses that were potentially right - but invariably were attached to others.

I used to live on Clarence Drive - and on GWR at the top of Byres Rd - and worked at the university - so know the area well.

no way! I used to live in Clarence Drive too, opposite Hyndland Secondary! And I was brought up round the corner from there. Small World!

I used to think it looked like a block on Queensborough Gardens but they're all red sandstone.

Great to see something that will upset the great unwashed. Weegieland will never be the Capital of our country.
#18
Awesome stuff, genuine Glasgow patter.

Yes - but its truely a pity that capital status seems to be awarded to the place with the greatest number of people with aids!!!! :-D :-D :-D

I take it you are frequently up Arthur's Seat?

I was at number 10 - in the same block as Peckhams.

Here is a picture of the actual block om the painting....

It has a one way sign next to it - but it certainly looks more like the Hyndland side.

If there is no ice or snow over Chirstmas I will go for a cycle to see if I can find it (fair weather cyclist).

ARTHUR'S SEAT

Never go near Arthur's Seat, And i can assure you that I'm not from Edinburgh and have never lived there , but there is no comparison between the two Cities and as a Scot, I'm eternally grateful that the city of the great unwashed is not our Capital City.

That sounds like a bluff - to deny you are wedged up Arthur's Seat. :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

Saltoun St. - walk up Roxburgh St from Byres Rd and it's the building on your right at the top of the street (the one way street sign is pointing down Roxburgh St., there's a lane on the left of the building - that's why it stands on its own). It's about 100yds from where I'm typing this in Athole Gardens.

Avril Paton lived in No 1 Athole Gardens when she painted it (one of my neighbours told me she had a platform on the roof!), some of her other pictures are alternative views from No 1. - "Dusk" and "Topping Out" are looking out of the front of the building across the gardens. "The Blue Room" is the view looking out of the back of the building across the lane to the back of Huntly Gardens.

"Bedsits" is Ruthven St.

But I've no idea where she painted "The Art School"

you obviously have a - 10 sense of humour, brought back lots of childhood memories for me, totally daft but soooooooooo funny

All the voices are done by Brian Limond.

Or, some of you may know him as Limmy. - www.limmy.com - His tv show starts on BBC Scotland on January 11th.

It's harder than I expected. I wish I could talk like that!
