Highly rated Avast or AVG come with a free home use licence anyway so no need to hunt for a 'deal' you have to pay for 12 months later. Cold for me.
The independent Tolly Group said in their September 2009 Anti-virus Performance Test Report that VIPRE Enterprise:

Consumes up to 38% and 45% less memory compared to Symantec and McAfee products tested respectively
Offers up to 2.6x and 3.6x faster scanning speed in full-system scan, compared respectively to the Symantec and McAfee products tested

Each to their own with regards to AV, just thought it might help someone. If works well for me.
hiow does this compare to zone alarm? - as my licence has run out and cannot find a suitable replacement.
iwould go just for:

ESET NOD32 or F-secure or Kaspersky

and 1 more very good : DrWEB (russian antivirus)

IT technician :)
I would argee with 3 of your 4, but F Secure? I tried it and it stopped the laptop during scanning, boot up was five mins whereas now its 2mins.

I see your IT Techician and raise you Pre Sales :)
