Never forget that forever means until the company gets bought out, goes bust, or makes too much of a loss and cancels the product. That could be tomorrow, next year, or in 3 years time. But one thing it will never mean is "forever".

I've recently subscribed to their $5 a month for 500gb plan, to host all my family pics and vids.
This is after I ran out of space on my free dropbox (maxed out 25gb).
I found pcloud was the cheapest for my needs. The android app is good for viewing pics and video. No problem whatsoever so far.

got 50gb for free on the box a few years back and still use that.

Only seems to show as 10gb?
#8
10GB only unless you invite friends, share on Facebook etc etc

Dropbox said that in 2010 when I signed up and in august 2015 the "free 48GB extra storage space for life" was removed unless I uprgraded to the paid for Dropbox Pro subscription!

Thing is, Google Drive is £1.33 per month for an extra 100Gb (total 115gb), which works out a little more, but ... it's Google!

I read "it's Google!" as both positive and negative in my head. Can you explain how you meant it? Genuinely curious.

I just mean, it connects with everything, you can do loads with Drive storage, and as arguably one of the world's biggest tech companies, it ain't goin' away anytime soon! If long-term reliability is the goal, stick with one of the big players.

A good target for hackers then?

I signed up for this couple of years ago when they were giving 50gb. So far they haven't reduced their promise like the others.

Only trouble is occasionally the auto uploads of photos and videos switches it self off, when you re-enable it wants to upload EVERYTHING again rather than just what's missing.
