NOTE - THIS IS NOT JUST FOR CHRISTIANS, PLEASE READ FULLY!!!

Now for something a little different... Cold voters please READ through before voting cold - this could be the difference in making or breaking a career aspiration for young (18-35) media professionals. They only pay for their travel to get there (as you would with any freebie listed here) and pay a registration fee. Pass this on to anyone you may know who may be interested or vote HOT if you want this to help the young 'uns of today get a boost in their job search.

Most important info at the start - Best of all, it's free. Training, accommodation and access to the conference will all be provided for you. All you'll need to pay are your travelling expenses and a £30 registration fee. To qualify for a free place, you'll need to be at least 18 but less than 35 years of age at the time of the conference. You must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to Christian faith and/or an interest in working in the faith sector of the media.

The Church and Media Network is offering up to 16 FREE places on a 3-day training academy at its annual conference in Derbyshire. With the support and supervision of experienced tutors, trainees will work as part of a multi-platform production team. They will break into smaller groups to work on either radio, video or web content. The content will then be showcased in front of the whole conference on the final day.

All of this happens in the middle of a busy conference, where trainees can mingle with leading figures from the media and faith communities.

theMediaNet Academy will be a great way to learn the ropes and get a head-start when it comes to applying for media jobs.

What you will get out of taking part:

* a chance to learn new skills and develop existing ones;
* the opportunity to meet other young Christians trying to break into the media;
* useful experience for your CV;
* input from specialist experts;
* having your work seen by media professionals.

How to register for theMediaNet Acacdemy

To register your interest please download and complete this application form Word document 42 KB and send it as soon as possible to [email protected], together with a recent CV. We will then contact you with more information. If your application is successful we will ask you to complete the conference booking form and send your registration fee of £30. All trainee bookings are subject to receipt of a satisfactory application form and registration fee.

The closing date for Academy Applications is Friday 13th May, with applicants being informed by the Friday 20th May.

Spreading the word of Christianity is worse than preaching about the FSM.

See that little icon I have posted? :p

That has a tongue poking out of the mouth!

Anyway, it doesn't say you have to be Christian, alternatively you can demonstrate an interest in working in the faith sector in media.

Get real - a freebie offered by essentially, the church, what did you expect? Move on cold voters, there is nothing to see here!

I am sure the church would love to teach atheists to write bad things about them :-P

Don't mean to be rude but should this not be in the deals section, as you are required to pay £30.
I have voted hot though If I knew anyone I would pass it on, thank you for bother to post in the firs place.

I don't know where it should sit, but would have thought that the training and accomodation is free and is a major cost (such courses could go into thousands surely), so the £30 is a pittance. But I don't make decisions.

As regarding your thanks for bothering to post, you're welcome.

Although I sometimes don't know why I bother to give my time to search or share deals :(

Here we go again! The theophobics are at it again.

Thanks OP for the post.

I was quite excited by this deal at first, seeing as I'm doing a degree in Journalism, and seriously looking to get in to the industry. That was until I saw it was for Christians. I'm a Jew, and not a very religious one at that, so am assuming I will not be welcome.

Can't see why not, I think it's just aimed at people who are interested in portraying religion ( positively I suppose) in the media. They may be looking for practising Christians, then again they may just be looking for talented people who would work well for them in the future. What has anyone got to lose by applying? £30. Small price to pay for experience and contacts in the media.
Hot from me, keep an open mind ;)

It says if you application is successful send £30.... So possibly you won't loose £30 as It might mean that you only pay if you are actually chosen to go. If you are really intrested send an off, an email to the address in the op and ask. Can't do any harm in that.

As the others have said before me, this is not just open to Christians. It is about faith in the media so if you have strong capability or are able to demonstrate that, you should be ok to get in. Also, you have nothing to lose, you only pay £30 if you are accepted. Come on! Give it a go..

All the best.

P.S. I have now amended my post to include the first line that clearly states you don't have to be Christian to go for this!

Erm, when I said this, it was colloquially speaking (_;) Never actually thought you would lose £30, only maybe not like the course and maybe feel you had wasted £30?
Maybe we have a different way of speaking in Manchester?

other than the religious stuff, it's ageist!

chance to meet other young Christians it states, but there may be all of us who are atheist, Jewish etc, so there may be no Christians on it.
