Why cold?? :S

...because they charge double to what the value is worth in today's market. There are a growing range of "no frills" gym memberships now on offer, Fitness First represents an old fashioned, overweight and overvalued offering of stodgy add ons that are now deemed dated and needless to the modern casual fitness connoisseur. The truth hurts and companies like Fitness First need to wake up to today's lean and mean market place. For a Company that is all about fitness and good health...it has grown fat, lazy and today's equivilant of middle age spread.

1. Free drinks? Water fountains are available for free elsewhere. Real value = 0p

2. Free toiletries? I take pleasure in selecting and washing with my own choice of shower gel. Real value = < 1p

3. Free advice? With the internet now available to all, you can research any amount of free advice you care to choose. Real value = 0p

Additional charge for the extras (above that of "No Frills" gyms) = £15/£20 per month!

Please don't mention free DvDs hire or newspapers etc. It all adds to the desperate methods of "added value" that consumers have long since wised up to as being a forced and unwanted added charge.

You will also have endless Sales Advisors ringing you up all year round, all of them desperate to reach their monthly new membership quota.

My partner took part in one of these.. a 3 day one tho.. He has only had one follow up call and thats because he was interested in joining.. When they rang he said he no longer wanted to join and havent had any calls since.. Maybe he was just lucky..

And its still use of gym equipment free .. Which isnt cheap to use anywhere.. !!

Give a fake number .

I did a free Fitness First 5 day pass thing. They certainly did the hard sell on me - tried to sell me a package in the induction before I'd even been given the tour! Then nabbed me again at the end of my first session. On my second and only other session I managed to evade them only to be called twice at home since. Yes, probably best to give a fake telephone number.

Having said that, I have voted hot for those willing to put up with a bit of hassle.

Cold because of the relentless hard sale. I hope people stop posting these cowboys as a deal soon.
