Ashampoo Office 2008, the predecessor of version 2010, only occupies a limited amount of storage space on the hard drive, is very stable and still offers all of those Office functions which genuinely need to be used in private or in business environments:
Ashampoo TextMaker, Ashampoo PlanMaker und Ashampoo Presentations!

And you can install it on a USB stick and take it with you wherever you go.

Download link here http://download16.ashampoo.com/m/ashampoo_office2008_310_fm.exe

So once downloaded or while downloading remember you must register here:

This is the 2008 version, why go for an outdated unmaintained (no security patches) product when you can have a full modern office suite, Open Office?

http://www.openoffice.org/

This one is simple, easy to use. Stable. Plus supported unlike open office. I have both yet found Open Office easier for my folks to use. You chose.

Your download link isn't from the software vendor, you've no idea what the exe your downloading could be doing. The do not write patches for bugs for this version of their software. Open office is maintained and supported.[/quote]

You made your point, there is no need to repeat yourself and no need to get dictatorial. People still have a right of choice you know.

Obviously, however the facts in the post are misleading as are their replies, people who aren't IT savy have the right to know this as well as choose.

Hey you guys. I'm lost. Not sure about the issue with the download link.... I can vouch for Ashampoo. Great software. Used lots from them. The link I post is from Ashampoo it's http://download16.ashampoo.com/m/ashampoo_office2008_310_fm.exe. The registration key is from a sister company. Both based in Germany and I would say both offer the same versions of Office 2010 although rebadged. It's free guys. Free Office. Easy, Stable and that's all from me on this.

Please no arguments. Both Open Office and Ashampoo Office 2008 are good. I don't dispute that.Open office is slightly bulky for my parents. So a simple to use software product I posted. I have downloaded and used this link I wouldn't post a dodgy link.

For those it helps great for those who don't like that's cool too. But please research before jumping in and putting this link down.

That maybe true. But not an issue for most. We still use Office 2003 at my Work.

I don't have one, thought it would seem you do. Why do you object to people pointing out that people will have problems using the product under discussion?

Perhaps they don't use it in your place of work, yet, however this will be a growing issue for people as the popularity of the newer software grows.
