Brilliant for me as i am a gaming student but yea 3 year license for all autodesk software and it's completely free. All you do is register input name of school and what you are studying then it's all yours :D

i'm running mine on a lenovo z560 not that powerful at all but it works ok bit slow at times but bearable. Just make sure you get one with a graphics card and you will be fine :)

bare in mind though if you are doing a games design course like i am where you want to run graphics engines like the unreal engine then you will want a high end laptop with atleast a 1GB graphics card. I know this as my acer 8935G with a 1GB ATI card runs unreal engine and my lenovo does but incredibly slowly that you cannot do anything so no point.
