Have ordered but not installing until the key arrives....I'm guessing they don't do any checks and this offer is open to all?

probably the worst paid for security going, but for free it has to be hot.

Free Internet security for a year? Great offer for something that works but AVG is the digital version of a chocolate fireguard.

Just to warn you guys, I have had two pc's which were both riddled with viruses despite installing AVG Premium. Now bought a Mac so don't have the same problem, but other friends of mine who have it installed also don't rate it highly. Not voting either way.

You can't just rely on AVG, you have to use other programs, spybot, malawarebytes

i had kaspersky free with barclays and it was too heavy = pain in the aris. it really slowed the pc down.
installed free avast = brilliant and quick and uses less memory and it found malware whereas kaspersky missed it

In my experience, viruses have bitten me through the full paid-for versions of:
Kaspersky
McAfee Corporate
Norton
and a few others I can't remember.
Currently using AVG Free and this has preved good so far *touched wood*
I also use AdAware and Malwarebytes in addition to AVG Free

Worst Anti Virus of the lot.... I must have had 20 PC's in the shop this week for virus removal and about half had AVG on, not much support now in the last 18 months...

Great find, cheers.

Good offer tho Microsoft Security Essentials still tops the free anti-virus list.

Low on resources and high detection rate. Though it lacks on fancy features compare to others.

Really bad AV even for free its rubbish, I have to agree with the above comment when cheap skates use to bring there PC in for repair and formatting and i use to have to install an AV so I use to use the free AVG but I was having more viruses than enough on customer PC's so I then started using Microsoft security essentials which is way better and free but now I have a 6month trial of both x86 and x64 Bullguard and nothings come through it up to yet on 50 or more machines. I use to have Kaspersky installed on the home machines and my server but I've even installed Bullguard on that now as im that impressed.

If its a free AV you want i would use Avast its very good for nothing way better than the AVG pro. Even though this is free i wont be bothering with it so im going to go cold on this.

nice one.

You can't just rely on any AV package to prtoect you, you still have to use common sense as well!

If you wear full safety gear and step in front of a bus you'll still end up dead.

AVG is no better nor worse than the other ones out there especially for free but you still need to use common sense as well, there's always the gap between something new being created and the definitions being released to cover it.

As for the previous comments about PCs being riddled with viruses you can't just point the finger at AVG there are a whole host of other things that need to be taken into consideration and to be honest i'd start with the intelligence of the person using the computer (no offense to the people concerned but you need to think about what you're doing) look at Facebook how many sheeple copy and post some latest crap about a virus or about a paedophile these are the people who are easily manipulated into getting a virus on their system in the first place.

Oh and I always used to put AVG on my sold computers and never used to get them back with loads of viruses on them

I use avira and have had no problems, that is free also. :)
#27
Any reason why I can't see much mention of Avira?
Avira + Online Armor (Though I like the look of outpost more) and regular scan using Super Anti Spyware, has done the job just fine. Not had a virus for a long long time. Firefox with adblock and noscript is a must.

Norton is the worst Anti-virus. It puts your pc spinning 1000 mph. Avast is free and is good

Norton now is one of the best paid-for internet security suites, and has been for the last couple of years.

Ever since they got their act together in 2009 they've been making a quality product.

Wondering what "fancy features". I am missing out on
#33
From my experience, it doesn't catch many viruses. But, for free, its Hot!

For those saying it is bad have a look here

it seems to do well in these tests.
