Edam is not nice. Very mild and not a lot added to it by grilling it.

The Dutch keep all the good stuff in the country... Sneaky Dutch...
They make really nice Gouda with cumin in it, available anywhere over there, but can you get it here? No! :(

wow, speed read that, nearly put me off cheese for life!

Heat added but should be in deals as it is cashback rather than a freebie

Where do you get the whole balls of Edam? Are they in the deli section? (Cheese novice here...)

I presume from the counter where they cut you a certain weight from a block. I'm just going to ask for a whole block or one as close to £15 as possible, lol.

Yep, from the deli counter. Ask if they don't have a whole one on display.

It would never have occurred to me to try Edam on a toastie, savvy enough giveaway. Guess I'll give it a go.

wow. tesco tomorrow

How long would a whole ball of this cheese stay fresh for, once cut? Only asking, as it looks like I will be eating it for myself!
#13
Thanks OP. Will head to my local tomorrow!

You can cut it into halves or quarters and cling film wrap each piece and keep in the fridge. Then just use one piece at a time. That will stop the cut surfaces drying out and becoming hard.

Has anybody seen any large balls of Edam in a supermarket? I've just looked at Tesco, and the largest they sell on-line is 0.6 kg for £4.26? Thank you.
#17
Wonder if they will refund cheese brought from the deli, I imagine that its only talking about pre-packet cheese

I'm not sure why you would think that. It's not in the T&C's.

Sainsbury's online didn't have whole balls, but they had them on the deli. That's how they are delivered to store.

Not in the T&Cs but I think if you tried to claim a £13 block of cheese they might say it has to be pre-packed to get out of refunding the money. Hopefully it works as I'm planning a big bit of cheese.

Has anyone received an email confirmation?

I uploaded my receipt earlier and no generic acceptance received?

Thanks

What does your receipt actually say please? I'm just wondering if the receipt will just say 'cheese' and not Edam cheese - I've had a problem before from some cashback sites where I have bought a product from Tesco to get the cashback, say Flora Buttery Spread, but on the receipt it just says 'Butter' and they have refused to pay the cashback.

Just bought my ball - £13.86 from sainsburys. Says JS Edam Ball on the receipt and is packaged completely as not cut.

Haven't received confirmation of an email about cashback but I took a pdf of the confirmation paid with my unique reference number for the submission.

I got a ball from Tesco for £13.28, had to ask at deli counter for it. They had halves for £7.50 ish each and the the two whole ones the chap brought out were the one I got and a slightly smaller one at £12.99. Those were "Frico" brand.

It is pre-packed, in wax. They can't argue with T&C's. They say you can claim up to £15 in the T&C's.

Google it, plenty of cheese shops sell it.

Mine Says ' M Example Ball '.

I just resubmitted the claim though, as Morrison's helpfully don't print the date on the same side as the item details, so had to do some wizardry to merge both sides into one document as the website will only accept one document as proof and not two photos

Yes same here my friend

I'm a bit sceptical, fair enough with the T&C all seems to be OK but I can just imagine being shafted saying it just says "cheese" on the receipt or some other similar excuse to get out of paying.

Same here. From memory, didn't the upload screen say to upload as a jpeg?

I think the same too, the T&S arent clear about deli cheese which you weigh out. If it seems too good to be true it usually is.
