On the same kind of subject beware that BBC is planning to launch some iPlayer features on Freesat to a limited number of viewers by the end of this month, and that it hopes to have it for everyone in 2010 :-D:-D:-D See: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8343350.stm

Finally. Two years after Mario Galaxy, there is a reason to switch the wii on again!

Because when the Wii internet browser (Opera?) was first made available they had the cheek to charge for the download!! It became free a few months back but then BBC changed their iPlayer settings making it useless for the purpose. As stated above this new download is free and I'm grateful to the poster for letting me know.

Doesn't matter what firmware version you're running all homebrew still works on the Wii. I'm on 3.2 and have manually updated my shopping channel in preparation for downloading this.

Hopefully this will run smoother than on the PS3.
#17
Excellent news for Wii owners! A great freebie! I still prefer to use the PS3's iPlayer though because of the output quality.
#18
I just hope that they can make it look half decent as the previous version of the iplayer didn't look that great.....

If you think the downloaded content will be any different then you are mistaken, and although the PS3 will upscale you may find that the wii version looks better. Obviously no way to do this on the wii other than stream so it will dependant on a decent stable connection

use 'Pimp My Wii 1.31' to auto update your system files including the latest wii shop channel .. softmod, etc is unaffected by this prog but please bare in mind that it does have the potential to brick your wii if you sway from default settings... be sure to install BootMii first and backup your nand...

Woohoo, so glad that this has been announced! Currently use mf bf's ps3 to catch up on iplayer, but be great to use it on my Wii. About time it had another function, all prepared to update tomorrow :) Heat added, HOT deal.

If you have a Wii, then oui, but if not it's not free: the wii costs a fee, so it's weewee. See? ;-)

works well and the picture is pretty good. Just watched a few mins of James May and Around the World to check. Fast streaming too.

I downed it this morning and it runs very smooth off the SD card. Loaded up Top Gear and watched a bit.

It's in the Wii shop, or you may have a message from Nintendo and I think you can download it from there.

Downloaded it last night, very impressed!
