Line Connection Special Offer

This Special Offer is available between 1st April 2009 and 30th June 2009* (inclusive) to eligible residential customers agreeing to an 18 month contract on a new line with the Unlimited Weekend Plan, the Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan or the Unlimited Anytime Plan.

* Now extended to 31st January 2010.

Customers will not be charged the current standard new line connection price of £124.99 Inc. VAT.

Calling Plan monthly charges, including line rental, associated with this offer are:

Unlimited Weekend Plan £11.54* Inc. VAT

Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan £14.53* Inc. VAT

Unlimited Anytime Plan £17.53* Inc. VAT

* These charges apply if paying by Direct Debit or monthly payment plan and the customer elects for paper-free billing. Otherwise add £1.50 per month for payment processing fee levied by BT Payment Services Limited, a BT Group company, plus £1.25(Incl. VAT) without paper-free billing discount.

Discounts will be by bill credit and will be shown on your bill. If you are a BT Pay&Call (BT Pay&Call was withdrawn on 31st December 2009) customer you will see this credited to your BT Pay&Call Moneybox account.

Customers must remain on their chosen Calling Plan for 18 months from the date of purchase, and must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls during every three month period, or 10 chargeable calls or inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly.

If you are billed quarterly and you don't make your minimum 30 calls a quarter, you will need to pay £20.40 (Incl. VAT) for every quarter you don't make these calls. If you are billed monthly and you don't make your minimum 10 calls a month, you will need to pay £6.80 (Incl. VAT) for every month you don't make these calls. This charge will appear in the One-off charges section.

If the customer decides to end the contract within the 18 month minimum term, they will incur a single charge of £7.50(on the Unlimited Weekend and Unlimited Evening & Weekend plans) or £8.00(on the Unlimited Anytime plan) for each month left of the minimum term.

Customers taking this offer would be subject to the following conditions:

1. Customers must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls every three month period or 10 chargeable calls or inclusive calls per month if you are billed monthly.

2. Customers can only apply for this special offer once in any 18 month period.

3. Customers may upgrade their Calling Plan but they may not downgrade within the minimum term

4. Customers who qualify for BT Basic may migrate without fulfilling the remainder of their minimum term.

5. Customers moving home and retaining an account with BT can take the remaining minimum term of their chosen calling plan with them.

6. At the end of the minimum term customers will continue to pay the standard Calling Plan charges. Customers wishing to move to a new Calling Plan at the end of the minimum term may do so by contacting BT.

7. Customers who are still in term with some other residential offers are excluded from this Special Offer.

8. BT reserves the right to withdraw this Special Offer at any time.

9. All prices are subject to change.

How to get the deal

This isn't available online; to get it you need to ring 0800 800 150, lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturday 8am to 8pm, Sunday 9am to 6pm. When you call, ask for the 'New line free connection offer'.

When BT ran a previous similar offer, there were some reports of people having difficulty getting the deal. BT has assured us the call centre is well briefed so there should be no problems this time.

You won't have to pay anything up front, it'll simply appear on your bill as a charge then a credit. If you do try and cancel your agreement before the 18 months is up, you'll have to pay the remainder of the contract.

Good find!

Repeating the same deal they had last year. I got it last year around April...May i think?

£125 for installation was always a joke price though. Still "Free" is a good price, think Virgin charge £30 (and £70 for a V+ box)

I posted this about 4 months ago, but it's always good to have a reminder:

Don't make assumptions the OP could have seen it anywhere or work for BT!!

just moved house and cancelled my SkyBroadband and Sky Talk as they wanted to charge me £125 to take their services to the new home (it has no BT line).

If I get this free with BT do you think Sky will do Broadband only?
Anyone had any joy with Sky matching this?

A good offer but if you do not make enough calls (10 a month or 30 per quarter) then it is not nearly as good. I want the line purely for broadband and not calls - that is what my mobile is for. Thank you for giving us the small print, that was handy to know.

dump BT and goto primus £9 a month line rental BT to goto £15 this year.

my friend went for this but they wanted a £25 up front charge towards future bills. They then never turned up for installation and shes still trying to get the £25 back 4 months down the line!

You'd still need the BT line first, Primus only do rental....no?

Last year I looked into the BT offer and was put off by the fact you have to pay the full installation fee if you cancel early. Don't know if this applies this year.

Great deal for anyone wanting a BT line long term.

The calls can be inclusive within the talk plan though, ie free calls count and thats from a BT rep again what is it with numpties expiring things it clearly says above 31st JAN!!!

1. The OP came directly from "Moneysavingexpert.com", cut & paste job verbatim.

2. Primus are one of several companies that can also install a new phone line.

3. The compulsory 10 calls per month are nothing to worry about, make your 10 calls after 6pm and it works out at £1:08 per month or £3:24 per quarter.

4. If you need a new phone line you'd be mad not to go for this deal, even with an 18 month contract, it's still a bargin.

1. Even on an 18 Month BT contract this is still a good deal.

2. The 10 compulsory calls per month are nothing to worry about, works out at approx £1:10p per month on the Unlimited Weekend Plan.
Just make sure you make your 10 calls after 6pm.

3. There are several companies that can install a new phone line and do it cheaper than BT,
but if you ever need to move back to BT from a non-BT line they are gonna charge you!

4. Be warned when you call BT for this deal they will run an online credit check, but that's normal these days,
whole proccess takes around 10 mins, and you get an installation date and your new number over the phone.

Well if BT credit check it's obviously a bad one as we passed it fine, also they CANT run a credit check without your permission if they don't ask then it's not a credit check.

The 10 compulsory calls INCLUDE calls inside a call package so yes 10 calls can be a £ or two but if you're taking a call plan then it can be nothing

As for copied and pasted from MSE, who really gives a monkeys, ok impolilte on the OP on there but who cares

Oh and that is copied verbatim from the BT notice to employees as well ;)
