Really great photo mate, might be worth paying for that to be put on canvas, look great

Thanks!

I only just got into photography. I liked the cheapo film cameras when i was little but it all started properly after i got my K750i xmas 2006. I got my camera from my dad xmas 2008, and i am still learning to use it. I have "the eye" for photography, just not the skills yet. Alot of my pics are slightly mis focused and stuff.

I edited that one a bit much, but i like it sort of moody look.

I'm 15 by the way :)

Sorry for the thread-jack!

Thanks PatriciaImage and Miss Money Saver, glad I improved your day :)

which one are people choosing? Just wondered...
#14
One question...Why are you adding heat to a worthless item?
why do you want a small piece of canvas which you cant upload onto despite being free??....beats me
Maybe I should promote some free screwed up paper sounds like that may be popular!

twistedknot... looking at their prices they aint the cheapest, but i get quite a few of my photos printed on canvas to sell on at a profit. i have to make sure that the quality is good enough and a free sample print always helps gives me a bit of confidence when paying £40+ for a canvas print over the net!

I have ordered the elephant one - I don't really like the idea of having other people's children on my walls, especially if I do not know them or their parents!

Bains93 thats a beautiful shot. Last year we started going to a local camera club, which was full of people over 55 and we were the youngest (30), but we picked up a lot of tips and they had various well known photographers come and give demonstrations and talks about their work, we were then able to have a go ourselves and they would advise us, which I think is much better than sitting in nightschool or college reading about it.

There were also a lot of competitions to enter both in the club and they accessed various other photography competitions. Although there were several nights of having to look through someone's holiday snaps, you just couldn't buy the expertise from learning of some of the better known photographers. It was really cheap too, we paid £5.00 as a registration fee and a £1.00 a week. Plus it keeps you motivated, Im sure there would be a local group in your area who might give you that bit of inspiration to carry on.

Thanks :-D

Sounds good, will look into something like that rather than expensive classes where maybe you learn at a more intense rate, but at a more intense cost! Anyway, i dont mind looking at others holiday snaps and giving them tips from my (small) knowledge base, and cheering them up with compliments.

you are very clever, that is a lovely photo, so bright and clear. well done! Are you doing GCSE photography?
#23
No, there is no option in my school to. Nor in my school's sixth form college.

I may do it in another college when i leave next year, i dont know. Primerily i would like to start a business in something i enjoy, but i dont know what yet.

It is edited a bit by the way, my camera's colours are not great, but with a bit of simple (not photoshop) editing it can make a picture better, or moody/arty like that one, or destroyed. Fine line in my opinion which i struggle with. Over edited that a bit i think.

Thanks people, i didnt expect this :)

baines... If you are a (6th form) student, it might be worth seeing if your local university has a photography society you can tag along to?!

Have to say, got mine today and i am quite impressed with the quality of the print/canvas. I think i will look at ordering my 'top seller' and see how it looks. Looks like their marketing worked!

I dont think i made it clear enough.

There is no GCSE option in my school, nor in my schools sixth form.

I leave next year which is when i choose a college, i dont know what to do, but want to meet new people, so i think i will go to another college, which may do photography.

I want to do a-level business, and maybe economics, then i think a night-school course in something i want to start a business in, even if after doing the course and getting a job and learning the trade.

Thread-jack, sorry!

Well you seem to have a nice attitude Matt, I wish you well in your future development.

My wedding photographer started as a hobby and at weekends he would wait outside the local Registrar offices and offer to take pictures of the wedding party for free just to get some portrait experience, he would then develop them and give the pictures to the couple. Odd but dedicated!!
#27
Sounds nice.

If you can do it, and do it as a hobby anyway as you enjoy it and want experience, and make someone happy by giving them some free pictures of their wedding if they are good enough, why not!

Do we have a "post your photography" thread here? If not maybe we should make one! After all, a nice picture can make someones day :) and it's a good source of tips and help/advice for budding photographers.
