It gives a combined average figure, you can change the mileage you do a year by going to the ADD MORE DETAILS link at the bottom of the page, also you can get an idea by looking at the average mpg of different prospective cars, along with car tax costs, also you get a free basic vehicle check to see if the car has been written off.

Huge pinch of salt, comparing 3 of my old hot hatches to my 2.0 tdi according to this site my new car is the most expensive to run.

I think yoa re wrong, how is this a gimmick, fair play the car check is not accurate but neither ar many o fthe other free ONES out there, at least you are not given the "If you want to find out more about the car pay us £20 etc"

Excellent! It tells me the my car costs £0 a year to run!

I wish somebody would have told me earlier, as I've been spending an awful lot of money in petrol stations over the years.

thanks for the link, althought not very useful as cannot input current owned car MPG's which usually differ from manufacturers figures..

Well it does say Average costs, it looks like they have based it on 10,000 miles p.a and the MPG used is the official MPG values which can never be achieved in real world driving.

My details came out as :

MINI HATCHBACK 1.5 Cooper 3dr
Total annual running cost £948/yr
Annual fuel cost £941
Servicing and maintenance costs £?
Vehicle tax £7
Annual insurance cost £?
Estimated depreciation cost £?

I didn't know the DLVA did RFL for £7 a year and I guess if it says £?, it's free...

I guess this site maybe useful if your undecided between a couple of cars and want a comparison between the 2 of them. Otherwise not much use as the figures don't add up.
