I'm sure I saw this posted before...

Although you can get free car valuations on the Parkers website they charge for mileage adjustments i.e. the free quotes are based on the average mileage.

This saved me a few quid so thought i'd share it...

I have always found vauxhall to be well off what parkers state so this 'freebie' could end up costing you a packet if you use their prices.

and this 'deal' is only for trade-in values at vauxhall lol

e.g.

Vehicle summary

Ford Fiesta Flame
1.4 Petrol 5-door Hatchback
5 Speed Manual Front Wheel Drive
Year: 2004 54
Mileage: 70,000

VAUXHALLEstimated value of your car

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£2420
Average condition:
£2190
Below average condition:
£1825

PARKERS PRICE
Franchised Dealer £3,780
Independent Dealer £3,430
Private Good £3,110
Private Poor £2,375
Part Exchange £2,620

You'll always find Glass to be a lot lower than Parkers or any consumer guide for valuation purposes. Glass is a trade valuation guide (the Black Book) and is a much more realistic for value. You'll never get a penny more than the Glass guide from anyone from the Motor Trade, whether these are the Major Main Dealers or a side-street Independent Dealer, they all use Glass like a Bible.

So, if Glass prices disappoint you, that's sadly a fact of life. Consumer Guides like Parkers are often unrealistic and private sellers who stick to them are likely to be very disappointed.

even so, the link the OP provided only shows 'trade-in' values, not sale values.

I've always found Parker's valuations to be over-estimated bull.
#7
Always better to do a private sale then barter for a good price. I wouldnt trade in.
#8
Parkers guide prices always favour the private seller by giving them unrealistic valuations, the fact is Glass's guide is the industry benchmark and you will be hard pushed to get a better price than in the book on a Part ex unless of course your paying way over book for the car your part ex against.
As mentioned above best way is private sale than at least you can get a better price on your next car by not having a part ex in the first place.

As the prices on the vauxhall site are part ex, if your selling private just add 10 - 15% to the price.

Said my car is worth £7,500. Autotrader private and retail is around £12-£14k. So this WAY out. WTF! Parkers has always seemed very accurate to me.
