you sure this is legit ILP?? 5.50 processing fee for a card to "prove" your entitlement.?

surely a blind or disabled person has enough ID to prove they qualify without paying for a card? Im just concerned this may be a scam like those sites that charge for european health cards/american estas etc.

No - it's not a scam - but used to be £5 for three years until some point in the last year - so it's effectively tripled in price!!

Actually , with a "hidden" disability, sometimes it's a pain to "prove" you are disabled. The A4 DLA letters are hardly conducive to being carried around, and not all disabled people have blue badges which are more portable

as usual the scheme is not funded...im sending off for mine asap

my friends reminded me of it the other day when i said the cinema was too expensive lol

taken from FAQs

Question:
Why is there a £5.50 fee to pay?

Answer:
This scheme is unfunded. Every effort has been made however, to keep the processing fee as low as possible.

when we take our a4 letters they have asked us for ID before because my OH doesnt 'look' disabled unless he has his black contact lens in

I get one, it's not a scam and usually the cinemas are pretty good and charge me the student fee with my free tix. Works any day of the weeka dn for any film.

Good reminder as mine needs renewing :D

Unfortunately as with everything else it will not apply to our little town on the coast.

It's nationwide. Have not been refused by any cinema anywhere to date. They swipe a barcode (not on the card, cinema staff don't like it much as it's a bit of a faff) and give you a free ticket. simples.

No scam, I got one a few years ago and have been using it with no problems since

Yup, I got mine when it was 3 years, runs out next year.

I have hidden disability and agree its hard to convince people, blue badge is no good either because you usually use it to park somewhere, and therefore cant show it! I have it photocopied and show that or CEA card as proof.

Yes, this is legit as I have a card for both my daughter and son, and this means that my wife and I both get in free of charge to the cinema when we go with them. But its not just us, when they go to the cinema with friends, one of them gets in free. It can be used nationwide and we have also used it in Southern Ireland a few times. The card is a godsend as it saves a fortune each time we go, but we have noticed that if you use it at the Odeon Cinema's then you just show the card and pay your money, but when used at Vue Cinema's you have to fill a form in when purchasing the tickets. Would defintely recommend one of these cards to anyone with a disablity.
