Great film.

Entertaining story - loosely based on true events - of four Jamaican bobsleighers who dream of competing in the Winter Olympics, despite never having seen snow.

With the help of a disgraced former champion desperate to redeem himself, the Jamaicans set out to become worthy of Olympic selection - and go all out for glory. One of John Candy's last film roles.

Utterly wrong, I`m afraid.

iPlayer is a freebie.

You do not need a licence to watch it (unless you`re watching `live`).

What does posting different freebies weekly have to do with anything.

There has been plenty of discussions as to why people vote 'iplayer freebies' cold so no need fro me to state my resasons for voting cold. Apart from which I think its a pretty naff film though not the reason I voted.

If you really want to be that technical, you should know that the Iplayer is not really free since it is funded by the tv licence and therefore by money which you pay to watch live television. So, NO, the Iplayer is not a freebie.

Why are people going to the root of things? You can argue that you have to pay for a TV first then a TV license THEN does it only becomes a freebie! But that's just stupid.
Lighten up, people.

As the majority of the population has a TV license already I would say this is free. And for the people who missed/like the film - this is hot. Geez!

If we're using that mentality then nothing on this website is a freebee. Because you need a computer and an internet connection! And hey, if you're in a library using their internet for 'free' then your taxes pay for it... oh my... NOTHING IS FREE

Me being at work and using my workplace's internet to access links to freebies?? You''re damn wrong because that is totally free. And don't even think of saying something stupid like i need to pay to travel to work because my job offers all that.

Anyways, I was making a point that the BBC actually charges you to make iplayer available and in regards to that, this is not really free.
If you want to think that you are smarter than everyone else, why don't you go to a mensa test and then weep when you get your results.

Presumably they get some form of tax relief on your expenses... Or the price of your expenses is factored into the products/services people buy from them...

And I think you'll find YOU started the stupid "it's not free comments". I don't pay for a tv license so you making something up about someone paying for it somewhere is exactly the same as this comparison!

If someone doesn`t have a TV licence they can still watch `catch up` on iPlayer, so it`s free. Equally, if they`re 75 or older, it`s free.

Also, correcting an incorrect statement isn`t overly `technical`, it`s actually fairly straightforward.

You're about as wrong as something very wrong that's just been proven wrong. You DO NOT need a tv licence for iplayer my friend, you need a TV licence for watching LIVE television ONLY.

So do some research next time before bad mouthing off on a thread eh?

But probably irrelevant to occupants of the 25 million households who have a TV licence anyway! How many people on HUKD don't have a TV licence (legitimately)?

Maybe the real freebie should be 'avoid paying for a tv licence by watching all your TV on iPlayer, ITV Player etc etc'.

this argument is completely irrelevant to the fact that people who want to watch cool runnings can do so 'for free' on iplayer.......

Good film and for free no one can complain.

Is it ok to post youtube videos on here? How about ITV Player or 4ondemand?

Come on. this is a service provided by the BBC and has most stuff (if not all) that is aired avalable for viewing. Are we to be swamped with the freebies on here from the beeb?

Some of the point scoring on this discussion has plummed depths but I have to admit its been far more entertaining then the film that is the subject of this posting.

I along with others will continue to vote these cold but some obviously feel there is a place for this when even a rubbish film that is donkeys years old gets 161 degrees.
#35
Have to agree with those who think posting this is pointless as we could end up with the entirety of the radio times listings on here. People I'm sure can see what's on TV themselves and check out iPlayer if they fancy watching something. If stuff like this gets posted all the time It's going to annoy more people than it benefits, altho I'm sure the initial posting of it was done out of thoughtfulness.

Voting cold

PS. imdb gives Cool Runnings a 6.6, making it an average film. If you *hate* this film, then you really need to learn more about the wider world, there are much more important things to discharge your bile over.

"You're about as wrong as something very wrong that's just been proven wrong" ....wow... you're like Ben Elton on a really lazy and **** day.

I believe you can watch old Jeremy Kyle episodes in ITV catchup for free..... maybe we should start flooding this site with all of the free stuff all the "catch-up" services offer. This is not a deal.... but has got heat anyway. This site gets worse and worse.

Films rarely appear on free catchup services, hence why they are put as freebies...

The presence of this freebie in no way whatsoever affects anything else on the site - so I have no idea why it makes it "get worse and worse". Even more curious as to why you went to the trouble of clicking, reading and commenting on something you don't want on here....

I went to the "trouble" to post my opinion that this is not a very good deal, if it is a deal at all. Previous postings prove that films do appear quite often so "rarely" is a strange choice of word.

"This site gets worse and worse" is a referance to the fact that deals like this as well as other very frquent postings (for example Eon shower devices and Free energy saving plugs etc that get posted all the time) detract from the decent deals IMO. So you wade through all the usual rubbish to get to the stuff that is new and informative that you have not heard of before thus making it a "deal".

I know there are free films on Iplayer.... I know I can get devices for my shower for free..... I dont need reminding EVERY week.

obvious solution is for someone to post a generic BBC IPLAYER thread under freebies and people add new releases to it.

that way we can spam individual listings ;)

would vote hot for that but not crap 20 year old films lol
