Thanks for the post student20077. However, asking for hot votes and all caps isn't terribly good forum etiquette. Would you like me to downsize the caps??

Nobody's trying to ruin deals! We're all here to share information....

About the caps - no matter where you are on the internet, be it chatrooms, or on MSN - Caps means shouting.

What bizarre posts, getting upset about things like this.....goodness knows how some people cope with anything serious in their life happening!
#15
This post made me laugh. I haven't voted hot or cold either way, but I wouldn't call a premium number for a "free" mag. Your use of the English language, student20077, is frankly hilarious.

No offence intended by the way. Just saying it was funny. :)

This has got to be the strangest post I have ever read....why isn't it costing student20077 the going rate to phone?

this is how london people talk. the call is local rate and it is not premium. read the small print i have given. this deal is worth it trust me.

0844 (lo-call rate) is usually 2-5p (5p minimum per call), not premium rate. I know this because I use 0844calls.com to ring abroad.
This deal is good but I think rangermastiffs "humour" :whistling: has made some people think its a premium rate number.

LOL!!!!! When did they release you;-)

So, it will cost say 15p to take this offer up (3 minute call at 5p per minute), that seems alright to me...and voted as such, talking in 'txt' is just a little annoying, but I suppose becoming more acceptable...I must just be old! lol:whistling:

Is this one of those offers where you have to cancel after the third issue or you'll be charged a years subscription, or just a one-off £1?

That's total rubbish, London people do NOT talk like that. It's just you. Perhaps it would be a good idea to pay some attention to your grammar, because if you write your essays etc the way you write on this forum, you will not pass a single one

And that's from a London person :-D

Personally I'm not a fan of it, and as far as I am aware it's not getting more acceptable, just that there are more people who decide to talk in it.

Nobody's bothered what you look like or about your dress sense, so to suggest that it is the reason of cold voting is totally ridiculous and pretty arrogant.

I've voted it hot, but it's personally not a deal I would go for myself, however people have the right to vote whatever temperature that they like, and whilst many people prefer for a reason to be given, it is not something that is required, so there is no point moaning just because the deal isn't hot - it happens, it's not as if you get anything from it (apart from knowing you offered up a good deal), so I can't see why you are so upset about it.

However further cold votes may be due to the 'txt speak' - as I say above, it's not really more acceptable than it was, personally I feel it should only be used (if necessary) in text messages, not on forums or MSN or chat etc.

PINKY: i passed my gcses and i go to queen mary uni at mile end in fact so my grammer is perfect. trust me YOUNGGGGG london people talk like this. i assume 90% of people on here are old but no offense.

Lighten up mister !!

im at qmul and i dont type like that, prob because im doing essays and dissertations 24/7 and if i started doing text typing it would creep into my essay writing! dont see and problem with it though, and it certainly shouldnt influence how you rate the deal. text typing can be far worse then that though, with every word abbreviated

i do wonder what your definition of "old" is :-D

good deal though

Also, theres nothing wrong with text talk, its just a natural evolution of language. People used to talk and write with the Ye Olde style back in the day, but times changed, and they are changing again now. I think a lot of people on here are probably too old/set in their ways to appreciate the progression of text talk. It will all be in the Oxford dictionary soon enough I promise you.

He looks like Derren Brown I think, maybe he has a mind control on us;-)
#35
and on it goes, on a point about language, how long before we are back to heiroglyphics, most appliances use symbols for controls from tv's, dvd players, ipods etc. and the playstation recognised symbols, we won't actually need words to communicate at this rate. I don't mind abbreviations, and I accept text talk on mobiles and whem IM'ing, however, in forums just feels like bad etiquette, just my personal opinion.
Still a good deal.

There's everything wrong with text talk!

Just because it saves the poster a few seconds typing a message, it takes everyone else five times as long to read. More often than not, the person reading the sentence will have to re-read it a couple of times just to make sense of it!

Personally I think it's totally ignorant - and before you say, "it's just because you're old", I'm 29. If anything, I think it makes the person typing in text talk seem about 12 years old and will probably just have their opinion ignored :giggle:

Rant over :-D

Indeed, I'm only 20 myself but the only time I'm acceptable of it is in actual text messages (well, the less messages that need sending, the cheaper it is :giggle:)
