Found a great site which I'm sure plenty of you guys could use :)

http://www.pookmail.com is a great site to use if you sign up for loads of freebies that you dont want to hear from again !

When a site asks for your email address, enter anything@pookmail.com, it will be accepted as a valid email address and might save your inbox from just a little bit of spam in the future.

Word of caution though anyone can access it but might help some people out, especially if just needing another email for various freebies.

To access the inbox, just goto http://www.pookmail.com

Useful but as you said exercise caution.. else this could be a goldmine for identity thiefs.

This site also does the same thing and requires no sign up! Great when applying for freebies that insist on an email address to send a password to.

I just have mutliple yahoo accounts, one for mail, one for orders and a few that are just junk

The good thing about the one above is that you can type in any spam address, then access the inbox to that address to get a password/username etc

I use it to accesssome forums that require signup

note: email site does not need you to sign up !

Cant say I really understand this thread, but that is probably because I havent gone to the site, am happy enough with yahoo so I dont really need to understand this thread.

I know why you would want something like this, just cant see how its different to yahoo etc, and how it works

I've used mailinator for a while, definitely a brilliant site. I don't worry about things being secure as I just use it for quick sign ups that need validation etc. I figure let them spam their hearts out!

I dont actually get much spam, about 1 every three days - and I sign up for everything

What's wrong with just making up an e mail address, which of course I never do :whistling:

If there are concerns about security in using these email accounts, why not do as I do and set up a gmail account just for such purposes? It's secure because you set it up, and any spam won't bother you as you never need to look at the emails unless you know you have to press an 'activate link' in which case the email you need will be on top of all the junk!

Am I making sense here??:?

Thats exactly what I do, only I use yahoo. Dont really see what the problem with doing that is

It's another alternative. Why take the time to sign up to an email service provider (such as hotmail or Yahoo), when you can just still a blag email address in without signing up to anything !

Only takes about a minute to do though, I have recently done another yahoo one and it took less than 2 minutes to complete

People have said that this is quicker and easier, I agree with you though, yahoo does me fine :)

not too good?!

I understand it now, I thought everyone had to use the same address, ie everyone's e-mail went in to the same account!

Stick to using a seperate yahoo address, then if you ever need to get it back for any reason you can (as long as you sign in like once a month). And there's much less security risk then.
