Hi
Network solutions are giving any domain free for 1 year to UK customers.#

I have got one .com for free (it is working)

http://marketing.networksolutions.com/bnr/08Q2/uk/free-domain.php

PayPAL or Credit cards needed and one per UK customer.

PLEASE NOTE
You can do FREE DNS redirections.
(If do not have your own hosting plan, there are loads of free hosting packages around just Google for One OR here
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/196555/free-web-hosting/)

OTHERWISE
A $12 per year redirection charge applies to be able to use this domain name, either that or you have to pay for one of their hosting plans.

Great spot, thanks!

Registered a .net. It seemed to be prepared to allow me to register if for 2 years for free, but I stayed safe and stuck with the 1st year for free.

Do you need to give credit card/bank details in order to sign up for this offer?

Oh yes cheers missed that!

It states there is an option for auto renewal (which I don't want to select) where is that option?

It seems you can have 2 years for free not 1.

This looks a great freebie on the surface and I just signed up, but having logged in I see that you have to pay $12 a year to forward the site somewhere, this is a charge that doesn't exist anywhere else so they are just taking the mickey.

I am a bit miffed now as they have my credit card details for something that I can't even use unless I pay the rip off $12 per year redirection.

Have already voted hot, but would vote cold if given the option now, not the OP's fault as it's not made clear until you have gone ahead and registered all of your details.

If anyone else can work out a way around not paying and still being able to use the domain please report back, I see you can change the DNS servers so maybe that's an option?
#12
Panic over, you can do FREE DNS name server changes so a good freebie after all!

Mods/Admins please delete my edit of OP as not relevant now.

cheers another one for me !! ;-)

Hi all
Just updated the origonal post.

You do not need to give credit card details if you have paypal.

Yes I have found that you may be able to get 2 years free.
I have not seen it for .com but for .co.uk it works. yep you can have 2 years free.

Has anyone managed to get their domains working yet? - I have changed the DNS but nothing, did it nearly a week ago too.

Works fine here

Have you added the domain to your hosted space?
#23
After the free period is over it's $34.99/yr. So I'm assuming they're either hoping you don't change registrar before then or they will make it as difficult as possible for you to do so...

Just to contrast Namecheap only charge $9.29/yr

Network Solutions have a terrible reputation and are known to hijack domain names. This really is one of the worst registrars ever.

My advice is to find a reputable registrar and pay the measly £4/year.
