Until somebody can scientifically prove that global warming is a man-made issue, I'm not interested.
I don't believe in filthying my own back yard.
But equally I don't believe in spending several $trillion trying to fix a problem that may not even exist.
Temperatures not increased in a decade? Despite the growth of Indian and Chinese economies?
What is the "right" temperature for planet earth anyway? Until somebody can establish that how do we know what we want to achieve?

Well said.

If anyone thinks that anything we do will make the slightest difference whilst the Indian and Chinese economies play catch up with the West, are deluding themselves.

this 'eco' issue plays onto our ego's as UK people, that we somehow matter. In reality we're in a tiny country with a population of roughly 60 million, a totally insignificant number!! We as a country are made to feel like it's our doing through media and government spin.

At the end of the day the USA with their 6 litre trucks and supersize everything are far far worse yet we get grouped with them. China has a population in the billions and is currently going through industrial revolution on a scale the world has never seen, yet somehow we get eco warriors moaning of low efficency lightbulbs, gas garden heaters and 2 litre cars. Get a grip and realise we as a nation are small fry, having a nice new freezer with a lovely "A" energy rating on the front doesnt save any african children all it does is let the maufacturers get away with charging £50 extra and increasing the company profits!

As a global issue it is a problem but we live in a world where its wrong to turn around and say to america, asia or to china that the current problem is theirs to solve, due to their huge drain on world resources as someone will call it racism. When it was our (the UK) industrial revolution there was 50 million people, europe as a whole was around 400 million BUT china and asia has over 3.5 billion, well above the scale of ours to almost a factor of 10 and hence a huge drain and cause of lack (or future lack) of resources. Also calling on them apart from being a racism risk is an acknowledgement of their size and power which is a hot potato in terms of global powerhouses and who tries to dictate world policy, currently the USA but China will surely dominate in years to come.

Not sure what planet you are on, but the one I inhabit has plenty of documentaries on TV showing what is going on.

I agree with you on the relative impact the Indian, Chinese (and USA mentioned by other members) populations will have, not to say Russia (the ones that gave us Chernobyl radioactive polution, the worst kind of polution possible, besides anthrax or sarin gas and the like).

We are insignificant, unless you count all the filth the Industrial revolution put out for over a hundred years before the rest of the world caught up.
