Just a heads up that A Shade Greener Are installing in a wider coverage area now.

Check if you are in the installation area and thta your roof is facing South online!

A Shade Greener is a Renewable Electricity Generator that is utilising the Government initiated FIT Scheme, which commenced on 1st April 2010, in order to install FREE solar panel systems onto domestic properties in parts* of Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Humberside. We were initially looking for only 2000 homes, however due to huge demand we are now looking for at least 6000 homes.

How can we do this? We don't give the panels to the Homeowner, not initially (see FAQs). We simply install our panels on the Homeowner's roof and let them use all the electricity that they generate for free, because under the FIT Scheme we will be paid a Generation Tariff for ALL the electricity that our panels generate whether that electricity is used, or not. This Tariff is guaranteed for 25 years. This means that we can let the Homeowner use this electricity entirely FREE OF CHARGE for 25 years too, as we will be paid for generating it.

Our own scheme is particularly suitable for people who want Solar PV, but who can't afford it, or for those who CAN afford it but would rather spend their money on another home improvement.

biggest pitfall is the serious house price devaluation these things create once fitted. Ask any estate agent and they will tell you its a big no no.

Not according to this

If you can, you should just pay for the panels yourself. You will get the electricity+the FIT. The only reason companies offer these free is that they know that the panels (with the help of feed-in-tariffs) will pay for themselves in 8 years so the other 17 years will be clear profit for them. You also need to make sure that they will replace the transformers if they fail if they do not have a 25 year warranty. Most solar panels come with a 25 year warranty but transformers typically come with only 10 years.

Links to heavily biased sites is not something I would consider as evidence. Asked a few estate agents and all said they seriously devalue a property. New builds are different as the designs take into account the size / style of the panels.

These fly by night companies just bolt them on to a roof with zero consideration to how it will look.

I've never posted on here before - just use it for deals but had to cause you're SO wrong. I got a system from A Shade Greener after it featured on this site way, way back. I was trying to sell my property at the time and it'd been on the market for nearly a year and I thought it would help me to sell if I could sell it with free leccy. I sold it within 2 months of having the panels installed, I was very surprised. And it didn't devalue my property at all, I got the asking price.

Now I'm in my new property and I've been accepted again by ASG!! I'm having another system fitted in two weeks time. I'm delighted, they said I'm the first homeowner to have it done twice:D And they don't just bolt them on you've obviously no experience of this company they're very thorough. Just have a look at the photos on their website if you think they just bolt them on. They've installed over 2000 now. They certainly didn't just bolt mine on. You obviously don't know anything about them. Get your facts right first before posting misleading info.

LOL - yeah right. I'm so wrong just cos you sold your house for the asking price. Oh dear!

Best you stick to not posting at all unless you are an estate agent with some proper facts.

I agree with the previous post if you can afford to purchase the panels you will be better off as you'll be able to receive all the subsidy / feed in payments. If you do go with one of the free installations make sure they will be fitted properly and check the situation re: maintenance, moving etc. with regards to house prices it's like anything to some people they will be a plus point whilst others willbe put off by them but on the whole alternative energy is gaining popularity so you shiuldnt encounter

No, I live on a beach in Sussex facing due south. The £300 potential savings per year just didnt stack up against the potential huge losses the local estate agents warned me about.

I trust estate agents expertise on valuations a lot more than fly by night installers or biased websites lol

Err proof is in the pudding mate! My house got sold within 2 months of having the Shade Greener panels installed after it had been on the market for nearly a year with not much interest, there are houses on my estate haven't budged since going on the market at the same time as I first put mine up for sale - now well over 1 year, and quite a few of those have had to put their prices down. You scoff at me getting the asking price - and yet you so very firmly said having panels would devalue a property in your expert Estate Agents opinion. And just who are these many Expert Estate Agents you have been talking to? Do you have a habit of going around talking to Expert Estate Agents about solar panels. Or have you got a hidden agenda I wonder?.

You have NO experience of solar PV or these companies offering it for free. I am on my second system from ASG. I think I have more experience than you. And yes, it is much better if you pay for them yourself and get the tariff but who has that type of money sitting in a bank account doing nothing? Certainly not me. ANY savings are good in my view and if I can reduce my leccy bill I'm happy.

I sold mine with the free panels on it without any problem at all. They just stay there for the new owners to benefit from. It's a no brainer as far as I'm concerned, which is why I made sure that my new house was suitable before I bought it. There are quite a few properties in my area now with the free panels, ASG featured on this site ages ago, which is how I found out about them. Don't be swayed by stuff on forums like this - there are always people who see bad in everything. Contact the company and they'll put you in touch with people who've already got them - get it from the horses mouth instead of from people who have no experience with the company and no idea what is entailed.

Had mine fitted yesterday and to see the meter dial not moving whilst using the washing machine etc made me :D

Can't understand the negativity posted earlier.ie two properties for sale, one normal and one with free electricity for leasing your roof space. I know which I would go for :D
