Halloween is an American import... We are not American's. Keep your children away from these poisonous escapades where the goal is to collect as much sugar as possible. Type 2 Diabetes is not funny and it could ruin the entire life of your child. Act responsibly, just keep them indoors.

Wikipedia says:

It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from Celtic harvest festivals which may have pagan roots, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain, and that this festival was Christianized as Halloween.

Ps most Americans are descended from Europeans.

As a Scottish pagan I can categorically tell you that you are wrong. I celebrate Halloween/Samhain and it has little/nothing to do with eating sugary treats! I won't bore you with the details as spirituality is a personal journey; and this is a deals website.... lol.......but for anyone who might be interested you can find lots of good information online.

It's Irish, not American.

Not been about for a bit... I do know of paganism. Anyway, clarification for those among you who appear to have been trapped in the loop of cheap carbohydrate consumption, Halloween, as is today, is just another import from the USA. 50 years ago (when I was a kid and my allowance for sweets was one ounce a month) there were no door-door sweet scavengers. What spare time there was between tea, homework and bed was spent readying the creation of an effigy of Fawkes, peddling him for pennies and gathering wood and other combustables. The Halloween charade indulged in now has nothing to do with Samhain or all saints day. It's a concoction devised by the sugar moguls to get your kids hooked on sugar. You may just as well allow your offspring to take cigarettes as their "treats" from strangers. The trick of Halloween today is having the savvy to reject a poison now euphemistically termed a "treat".
