If you work for the emergency services, you will receive completely free entry to the Blackpool Tower. Just ask on the door. I went on 15/09/09 and asked if they did emergency services discount. To my surprise it wasn't a discount, it was completely free. They will require you to show your ID and they will print your tickets off, allowing entry to the circus and the tower. I went with my partner and we were both given tickets. I'm not sure how many tickets you will get. I doubt if you turn up with a coach load that you will all get free entry.

Good if you qualify but unfair for those who do not. Sorry but these offers irritate me.

All jobs have their perks. If you are irritated, do something about it and join the emergency services. :)

Are these the pensions that they pay into and are entitled to.

Like the previous post join the emergency services if you are not happy with the pension your getting.

Heat from me.

PS While we get good pensions we pay a whole load (285 pm) for it! As well as a massive impact on our personal lives working long hours and doing things that most people would shy away from.

The free entry is nothing to do with the pensions. It's more of a perk for being in the emergency services. Somebody posted a similar one for Subway, whereby they get free tea and coffee if in uniform etc:thumbsup:

Go to one of the seafront joke shops and buy a plastic fireman's helmet. Then go to the Tower wearing the helmet and (with your little chopper firmly in your hand) ask for free entry. And then let us all know the outcome ...
#12
surely all you need to do is set fire to the place the emergency services to get free entry ??

You just happened to ask? What made you think that they might?
#14
Anyone offer discounts for PA's?

how/why is it unfair??

is it fair that doctors and nurses get abused every sat night in a&e departments?
it fair that firemen get called out to hoax calls and then get pelted by the local yobs?
is it fair that medics get abused by people they go to help?
is it fair the abuse the police get to keep people safe?

if things that go to such people irrate you so much may be you should tell them that if ever you need to call on there services !!!

I know what you mean ... especially when toddlers get into places free and get free travel on buses, trains and planes. Why them?

And OAPs, the unemployed, students, and the sick. Freeloaders the lot of 'em

because somebody somewhere has decided that they want to let them in free, and no amount of sayin it's not fair is gonna change that.

and i for one think they deserve it.

After all the rescues that have been made on the pleasure beach rides this year I think that it's a nice thank you gesture.

is the offer even for real? if so i hope it works for me as i work in an N.H.S A+E and dont get much in way of 'perks'.
who is 'entitled' to these types of offers is a wholly subjective and in my view pointless issue, especially here on this forum. we all play our part to share, don't we?

Yes it is for real:thumbsup: The girl on the desk said if u work for fire/ police /ambulance. I would imagine the nhs nursing/medical staff comes into that. You could always ring ahead and check.:)

i will definitely follow it up, id like to go up to the top of the tower with kids without it costing me an arm and a leg. i want to jump onto the glass walk of faith just to scare everyone!
#32
Will the free entry just apply to the person who works for emergency services - ie the wife and kids still have to pay?

I was with my other half, i just showed my id and we both got in for free. As i said in one of my earlier posts, i would imagine if you turn up with a coach load then you won't all get in. I would definitely ring ahead first if you are going with a few people to avoid any disappointment.
#34
Cool i will be sure to tell my friends who work for the services
#35

I went up the tower for the first time a few weeks ago,its well worth the money anyway BUT that walk of faith is soooooooooo scary!!

My sis asked me to take my niece and nephew as she is terrified of heights so wouldn't go,the kids loved it!

This is a great attraction expecially the circus

I am absolutely baffled by this. The only thing i can think of is that the staff are not being briefed properly about it. Did you speak to a manager about it?
