Probably a stupid question.. but that’s not going to stop me asking :o)

Do you know if they will give you the results of the eye test? (i.e. so that I can purchase the spectacles from another place ?)
#18

Yep, that's what I did. Got my eye test done and they gave me a card with my prescription details on there and then.
Just tell the staff you aren't looking at buying anything right now - they didn't seeem surprised when I said this so they must get a lot of people shopping around.

They do indeed and if they try and saying the don't, quote Section 26(2) of the Opticians Act 1989, which stated states -

"Except in circumstances specified in regulations under subsection (3)(b) below, it shall also be his duty to give the person whose sight he has tested, immediately following the test, either a signed, written prescription for an optical appliance or a signed, written statement that he does not need to wear or use an optical appliance."

thank you!

Thanks OP :)

Great deal - thanks OP.

I didn't realise I could get my prescription details from them even if I hadn't paid for the eye test - hopefully will be able to get the glasses from them with the other voucher though as buying them off the internet seems a little hard to do with glasses I think.

LMAO!!! I think I might need one of these! for some reason I thought post said free eye test at ASDA!!
#26
Many thanks for this. I have been and received my free eye test and I did not purchase new glassses with them and took away my prescription.
#27
I used it today - free eye test at the Nottingham branch saved me £27.50. You dont have to purchase any glasses to get the free eye test, although I did in the end.

I needed new lenses as my prescription was way off after 2 years and it would have been £65 for new lenses plus £25 to put them in my current frames (£90 in total) but to buy a brand new pair of specs identical to the ones I have has ended up being £79 (using the £50 off voucher) ................. RESULT!
#28
ask for a copy of your prescription then go on to glasses direct and order from theire, i dealt ith them last week and cannot praise them enought got loads of freebies with my glasses, such as compact mirror, cleaning and even sweets
